Came across this post on Frugal Flyer this morning: https://frugalflyer.ca/blog/offer-simpl ... g-account/

Simplii and Frugal Flyer are offering $390 to new clients who sign up for the Simplii No Fee Checking account and complete three direct deposits of $100 for 3 consecutive months.

If you are interested in the $390 sign-up bonus, you can sign up via the Frugal Flyer rebate page.

In order to receive the $390 sign-up bonus for the Simplii Financial Checking Account, new clients must:
  • Sign up via the form on the Frugal Flyer rebates page ($40 cash back paid in 4-6 weeks)
  • Receive three direct deposits ($100 minimum) for 3 consecutive months ($350 cash back deposited to your checking account after completing the requirements)

It looks like Frugal Flyer is also offering rebates on the Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa credit card and the high interest savings account per their recent article. Worth looking into signing up for all three products via their rebates to maximize your cash back if you are interested - both of these offers can also be found on the rebates page on Frugal Flyer:

Offer on the Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa Card:
  • 10% cashback at restaurant and bars for 4 months, up to $500 spend (totalling $50 cash back) + $50 cash rebate from Frugal Flyer

Offer on the high interest savings account:
  • Promo rate of 2.2% interest until April 30, 2022 + $40 cash rebate from Frugal Flyer

If you sign up for all three accounts you’d make a pretty easy $480 ($530 if you meet the credit card spend as well). According to the FAQ, you must sign up for each product separately.

Anecdotally, I went through Frugal Flyer for their $40 rebate on the Neo Financial credit card and it was a smooth experience. They paid me within a few weeks via e-transfer with no issues.

Just signed up. I'll take free and easy cash any day of the week.

I didn't see any spot for referral and you have to use Frugal Flyer unique link that they generate for you. So I don't think this can be stacked with referrals.

Might sign up for the CC and savings too, we will see.

This was not the case for many RFD users. I still have yet to receive mine.

Have you followed up with them via email? I had a friend who applied in late December after telling them about the promo and they just received their payout from Frugal Flyer yesterday (I guess there are some issues on Neo's end with honoring the affiliate payout + $100 promo). They had reached out to Frugal Flyer directly though, so I don't know if that made a difference.

I know GCR was having a similar issue with Neo in regards to the promos stacking.

Signed up this bank about two weeks ago for high interest savings account. I remembered it was 2%+ interest rate. But this rate does not show on my account now. How can I know whether this 2% rate is active or not? Calling customer service? I have not yet tansfered any funds into this savings account.

Frugal offer is not stackable with referral. it is in their FAQ's

Does this offer stack with any other offers or referrals?
No it does not, if using a referral, you must use a friend or family member’s special link which is not compatible with ours.

How is customer service experience?

Is it easy and takes little wait time to connect to live agent?

will there be any credit check hard enquiry if applied for checking account only?

signed up last month. the referral bonus was quick after you deposit 100 in the account. now waiting for the 350 for switching payrolls.

customer service is decent imo since its CIBC, at least the wait time is lot better than TD

You can chat online within a couple of minutes and staff seem knowledgeable enough to answer all questions.

Can you withdraw/e-transfer the direct deposits once they hit the account or do they have to stay there for all 3 months?
I love RFD! :)

Does it have to be a direct deposit or are there any other transaction types we can substitute?

I work for a bank and payroll has to be deposited in a chequing account with said bank unfortunately

Referral deal would be better then. Last I checked mine, it said it was $50 each for both parties, so that results $400 for the new customer. Better than $390 via Frugal Flyer (perhaps Frugal Flyer takes a bigger commission?).

As per the simplii website.

What direct deposits qualify for the cash bonus?
Most recurring payroll, pension and employment insurance direct deposits (including old age security) from an employer or the Canadian government qualify for the cash bonus.

True, unless you are already a customer or want more than just the checking account.
