Simplii Financial: Promo For New Clients - $200 **QC excluded**

Deal Link:
Expiry:
October 31, 2021
Retailer:
Simplii Financial
Mod Edit: Do not ask for a referrals or state that you have one to give. Comments like "PM me for details” or “you’ve got a PM" are also not allowed. You will get an infraction. Additionally, sending unsolicited referrals through private message which get reported will almost certainly earn you an infraction.

***updated expiry date*** October 31, 2021

Seems like it’s ongoing bonus for Simplii.

$200 for opening a no fee chequing account and having a direct deposit of at least $100 a month for 3 straight months.

Employer and Government direct deposits qualify for the cash bonus: payroll, pension, EI, CRB...

You will receive your $200 bonus by the end of May if you apply by the end of December; end of June if you apply by the end of January...

Existing clients can get 2% on their deposits until March 31.

Thanks for sharing!

Are there any signup bonuses right now in addition to the $200 for opening a chequing account & setting up payroll deposit for 3 months?

Thanks for posting OP. Upvoted because Simplii is great, even though I don't qualify (have been an account holder since PC Financial launched the account under Amicus, before it transitioned over to Simplii).

It's the only chequing account that still offers free ($0) cheques AFAIK (granted I can't remember the last time I actually wrote a cheque), and has the benefit of being pretty much CIBC without branch/teller access.

I didn't see an exclusion for people that previously held an account with PC Financial. Did you see this somewhere?

Current critiria to be an "eligible client" as per the web site:

This Offer is open only to Canadian residents who: (i) have reached the age of majority in their province of residence, and (ii) have no prior banking relationship with Simplii Financial prior to the beginning of the Offer Period. This Offer can be combined with all other offers unless otherwise indicated. Individuals who meet the foregoing eligibility requirements and otherwise comply with these Terms are referred to as “Eligible Client(s)”.

Direct deposits have a code embedded within the info sent to the banks to say what it is (payroll is code 200, etc.). Simplii and other banks that look for payroll and related deposits look for those codes. You can't modify those codes just by moving money between different bank accounts.

edit: typo

For those who have signed up recently, how long is it taking for the back-office to email you the signature card after applying?

Agree. Simplii (or PC Financial) is fantastic. I was with Scotia ever since I was a student at Carleton. Scotia kept charging for service fee (more than the actual interest earned) monthly. I was able to reverse it after paying a visit to the bank. To leave over $5000 in a low interest chequing account is not what I wanted.
Switched to PCF and later moved all accounts there. Over the years they had offered bonuses during the anniversary, birthdays etc. Quite a surprise. And they charge 0 service fee even my account has less than $300 in chequing. These day I don't go to bank often. Don't really remember when was the last time I went there. May be 7 years ago trying to get a draft for purchasing my vehicle.
Banks are using my money to invest and make more money. Yet they try to make more money when I put money there by charging service fee. The same thing applies to annual fee for a credit card. I don't care how much additional services the CC offers.

Doing this now. Simplii for checking, EQ for non promo savings, and currently in Tangerine for promotional on savings.

Thanks! They kept telling me I should receive a signature card via email in 24 hours, which obviously never happened. I'll wait a few more days for the snail mail to come.
I didn't receive anything via email from them since opening the account, despite what the rep told me.
