Simplii heads up - 2% promo offer

I just got 2% promo offer for their HISA, between now and Oct. 30. For "new" money after your June 30th closing balance.

I'm still getting 2.8% at Tangerine until end of August, so I won't be using it till then.

This is by invitation only, so you should log in and check.

Is 2% supposed to be a deal these days?

That's not a great deal tbh

Most online banks are offering that or slightly higher offerings
EQ is 2%
Motive is 2.05%

TANGERINE promo till August 31st is 2.8%

Slurping on that 2.8 at TANG and enjoying it, probably will be 2.0-2.3 next time around.

Also have EQ 2.0% for after August. Sucks because they gave me 2.4% when I signed up but it dropped in April.

Tangerine is now 2.5% for new customers for 5 months and 1.8% for select existing customer for 5 months.

I'm wondering if @bylo will be jumping on these upcoming 2% Simplii and 1.8% Tangerine HISA promotional offers in the fall... or if he will move funds in risk assets, as I am.

Cheers,
Doug

That's still August 31st. The offer through the end of the year I've seen is 1.8%.

At only 2% EQ is better -- At least you get the interest payout monthly vs having to wait until the end of the period. Not to mention it is on all money vs just "new".

Well on the first page of this forum I see an EQ 2% thread and a Motive 2.05%, but this one is somehow not legitimate? I wasn't posting this as a "deal" anyways, just an informative post (like all the posts I see when some bank changes their interest rate). I've appreciated when somebody posts this type of info so I thought I would return the favor.

But if you want an argument why this could be a "deal" compared to the other 2% offers, this one at least is guaranteed for a few months, whereas EQ or Motive could drop their rates tomorrow.

^^for those that move money in and out of their HISA, Simplii makes it easier and quicker to do so.

Also over CDIC limit I’d rather be with Simplii though EQ has a $200k limit in their savings account and their short term GICs now pay less than their HISA.
