Do I care?
Important points omitted by OP
- 10% for 4 months only at restaurants, bars, coffee shop and takeout purchases
- 1.5% at groceries. Be wary this may or may not include Walmart.

That is horrible way to save money

There are better cards out there. VISA isn't accepted at all grocery stores.

Haha. Yeah Basically you have to spend a lot money in a small window to save some money....err no thx!

The only way this is gonna help anyone is if someone takes their clients out for dinners and coffee meetings and is able to expense these bills. Even then, the 4 month window really narrows the window of ‘ideal’ candidates who can actually take advantage of this said deal.

Thanks for sharing OP but this is a cash grab opportunity for CIBC in my eyes.

The 10% cash back is only on the first $500 anyways, so only a $50 net profit there. The 4% cash back on Restaurants/Dining afterwards is pretty good for a no-fee card, though.

will wait for a better Simplii offer... should've waited to open up my simplii savings account, which was better ($200) promo versus a slightly higher savings rate offer back earlier this year or late last year

4% no cap is pretty good, but the dining only limitation....

As far as I know only No Frills don't accept visa. I used visa at WM, FB, Sobeys, Metro, FreshCo, some Chinese grocery (but with minimum of $10) I never encounter a problem.

Yes that may be the case ... My Tangerine MasterCard excluded Walmart purchases and only gave me 0.5% cashback instead of the 2% that I've selected on the three categories which included groceries.

Does restaurant includes McDonald's and Wendy's? That is the 2 most common restaurant I visit. 4% is sweet though. I will load this card into google pay and use it exclusively for restaurant and move the tangerine restaurant categories to something else.
If I buy something that is not in deep discounted, my father will punish me; everyone will laugh at me. I will be the strange kid who doesn't fit in.

Confirmed Walmart is not groceries. Visa does not consider Walmart Supercentre to be a grocery store. This is a Visa thing, not Simplii.

I lost that as well when MBNA forced us to go Visa Infinite.

Was the Walmart you went to a Supercentre?
