Purchased Onkyo 676 refurb from Skadi earlier this year. Came in perfect shape, original packaging and is performing well. Can recommend.

Not bad, but got a brand new one for 449.99$ at best buy with 4 yr extended warranty. for 50$ more might be worth it to get new?

Those considering this Pioneer should also take a look at the Onkyo TX-NR575 from Gibby's for $299.99: https://gibbyselectronicsupermarket.ca/ ... -tx-nr575/

Specs are very similar, and you're also getting a brand new unit vs a refurb. Sign up for Gibby's newsletter and you can save an additional $10. $290 + shipping is a great deal, IMO.

Wow ,thats a pretty good deal but bear in mind that is a 2016/2017 model and Onkyo only commits to provide firmware updates for two years.
The other detail is Pionner uses MCACC to calibrate the speakers and Onkyo uses Accueq and from what I understand MCACC is better.

when the 'regular sale price' from the US destroys Canada's boxing day deals...

great price for sure. the question is if it would be subject to duty taxes at the border besides the HST tax.

But this is not a 2018 model and doesnt seem to support HLG. This could be important if sat/cable decides to start using that standard as replacement for hdr to save bandwidth.

How's the sound quality on the VSX-933 in a simple stereo setup? The majority of my usage would be for stereo music listening as I only have 2 speakers in my setup, but having the option to expand to multi-channel surround is a positive. I'm looking to replace a very old receiver that conked out after many years of faithful service.

I noticed on an Onkyo setup a few months back that the skadi refurbed was only $50 to $100 less than a new exact item on amazon.
