I'm gonna guess people haven't used it, just love to hate. They also probably haven't had kids go through braces, which is also a second mortgage - this stuff isn't cheap.

Biggest scam ever, anyone ever need more than a cleaning/filing should look into travel dentistry.

I'm a dentist, and I don't do orthodontics, so I don't have any competing interests with this company.

What I have seen recently at my clinic is a case that came to me of a teenager that had gone with smiles direct club a few years ago. He previously had trauma to his upper front tooth, and the position was off, that's why he wanted to straighten his teeth. I assume they moved the teeth back into position. The problem in his case was that he was still young so his jaw bones were still growing. That traumatized tooth in particular became ankylosed (the root fused into the jaw bone, sometimes that happens with trauma anyway, but maybe it was made more susceptible by forcing movement) and as a result, the bone in that area didn't grow. He came to me because the tooth was infected (again, can happen with trauma), but now it was like 5mm higher up compared to the adjacent teeth, and since it was infected we can't just leave it or cosmetically put some cover over it. So now he surgically needs it drilled out (since it won't get pulled out normally because it's ankylosed), will need bone grafting in the area, and eventually an implant. Otherwise maybe just a root canal or surgically cleaning the infection could've sufficed.

An actually assessment by a dentist/orthodontist would have likely found potential issues and individualized the treatment as such.

This is akin to DiY plastic surgery. Orthodontics looks like it's just moving the teeth around, but people don't realize that teeth only get moved because the surrounding bone is actually remodeling. I'm cheap too, that's why I frequent RFD, but some things aren't worth cheaping out over.

Regarding travel dentistry, same thing, I've seen crowns and bridges with bad seals leading to gum problems and recurrent cavities, improperly done root canals leading to increased infection. That work needs to be redone, usually at a higher cost, and as a result the success rate is now lower because sometimes when you redo something you've lost some more natural tooth structure to work with.

My guess here is that you're not dealing with qualified people, they pretend themselves being specialist but doesn't really seems to be the reality, and we all know that dentistry is very expensive so you're better to deal with a real specialiste if not at the end it will be even more expensive.

When something sounds too good to be true, then it is not true. Very good marketing catch.
