snow boots needed in Montreal this weekend?

Taking the kids for a weekend getaway in Montreal, and I am wondering if snow boots are necessary? Don't plan to walk/stay outside for extended time, and don't think we need a spare pair of shoes. Any locals can help me confirm if the road condition is okay for normal running/casual shoes?

Thanks and happy long weekend!

We've had light snow on and off for the last few hours and it's expected to continue for the next few hours. No other precipitation forecast this weekend so it shouldn't get slushy either. Runners would be fine if you're only outside for a few blocks at a time.

Enjoy your time in the city! Also, it's not a long weekend here ;)

I just returned from a 1/2 hour walk outside and there is quite a bit of new snow on the ground.

Even if there's no snow, it will be cold in Montreal during the Winter Season.
I always bring boots when I visit Montreal during the Winter months, snow or no snow.

It's your decision.

It's a bit late for my reply but it snowed on Friday (February 17) and I went out grocery shopping on Saturday and I wore my boots. I could have wore my running shoes but I often find that wearing my running shoes when there is about 1 inch of snow results in my socks sometimes getting wet and there is nothing worse than wearing wet socks for a prolong period of time so I generally wear my boots. My boots are also not "bulky" so while I wouldn't wear them in the office at work for the entire day, when shopping, I don't have any issues walking around in shopping malls.

Also, there isn't a long weekend in Montreal/Quebec this weekend.
