I'm actually drinking about 1 L day of straight carbonated water love it. But I also like diet coke and would love to use it for that too if possible.

The one I got was fairly well made (they all seem to be well built if you dont buy the $100 cheapest model). All the other name brand equivalents are not as well supported and the no name local machines for carbonation are not allot cheaper. Once you have one it was WAY more convenient to make soda water then to buy it. I assume as soon as anyone who drinks soda water see's a friend that has one of these they buy it. It's a self advertising business.

They also had a commercial recently with Game of Thrones tie in. They have some cash.

Walmart or somebody might have a store brand, "works in sodastream", but I'm not entirely sure.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

What do they do with it now, if they can't get the supplies to use it?

so what do the savings break down to?
cans are around $2.99 for 12, I guess 3.50 with tax
and you can bring cans around

if the savings is significant I can see someone getting one, but even at 50% you're only saving around $2

Gas up tap water and buy the soda stream concentrates. You can fill up the CO2 tanks anywhere.
