[NCIX] SODIMM (laptop) RAM deals - see 1st post - 8 April Update

Q:What type of memory does my notebook need?
A: Run Crucial's system scanner:LINK

A Warning Regarding Mail-In Rebates
Memory rebates tend to be either, a) a few dollars, which makes the rebate just a hassle and not worth it, or b) 2/3 the price of the memory or more, which can turn a deal super-sour if the rebate doesn't come through, or c) limited to one module which makes buying paired memory (2 modules) at a good price impossible! My recommendation is to NOT purchase memory that requires a MIR!

Does Best Buy even sell this brand of ram? I can not seem to find it on their website. (The link you have provided is for the US site).

The only problem is the BestBuy you're linking to is in the States.

Meh just went ahead and bought it online. Called BB and they don't carry any Corsair products. Thanks OP for the info.

I PM'd this price with NCIX last week while they had the $10 rebate hoping to get it for $24.99 after rebate. Bought it on the 27 when the rebate was still in place, but since it was on a weekend, the invoice I got was on the 28th.

What is up with that, why would they have a rebate end on a day they can't invoice for...is there workarounds for this situation???

Great RAM, worked flawlessly on a new DELL 6400 laptop (now off to hawk the the two 512 MB sticks that came with the laptop).

You can PM with NCIX but i doubt you'll have any success PMing with Bestbuy due to #1 BB is probably the worst company to PM with and #2 they actually have ground to reject this PM.

This is because Direct Canada is an ONLINE ONLY store, if you goto BB store, they will say they don't match online retailers. Also NCIX is listed as a authorized retailer of corsair but NOT DIRECT CANADA. They are in fact the same but since its not listed, BB have grounds to reject the PM. Lastly, i thought the only brand name ram that BB carry (in Canada) = kingston.

My mistake! I'm not familiar with Direct Canada...I thought they had a retail store in BC. And yeah...I linked to the US BB site :o

Still, $80 shipped for 2GB is a great deal.

Depends on what you run. For Vista, 2 GB is better.
Have a nice day!

Noob question, the specs for my notebook says that it takes DDR2-533 (PC2-4200) SODIMM RAM. Can I use this type on it?

sannin wrote: Yes, you should be able to use this ram. The RAM should just downgrade the speed to match up to 533Mhz.
Thanks! I'll order 2 sticks from NXSource. Great price. Thanks for posting the link.
