Maybe earlier this year? The two grocery stores near me are already fully stocked up already with earth, mulch and manure bags.DoorCrasher wrote: ↑ too early in the season....If I stand correct sales occures late April - early May

I am not saying that you can't find those products, but that the sales occurs later in the season
Black earth sold in bags here in canada for $0.99 on sale have absolutyely no nutrients. It's basically, agains people's thoughts, just black peat. Better to stick to quality products.Mars2012 wrote: ↑ I stock up on good quality potting soil in the Fall when they are clearing it out, i.e. ProMix. The stuff they sell cheaply in the Spring is black earth or top soil, which is okay as a filler when mixed with other amendments or for topdressing your lawn but it doesn't have sufficient organic matter to use for growing flowers/vegetables.

What seeds and fertilizer do you use to overseed the lawn? I have some patches and looking to fill them..PointsHubby wrote: ↑ 100% this
We buy in the Fall when stores are desperate to move the last of it … and it’s lol, DIRT CHEAP
Often getting black earth @ Loblaws Group stores say for 99 cents a bag
And ProMix I can find at various places … Grocery Stores, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Rona etc
For around $ 5 a bag … vs $ 8 to $ 12+ (28 Litre Bags )
All of this keeps great over the winter
I just stack it up outside … weather be damned
(If anything … there’s a good chance the cold weather will kill off anything unwanted that might be lurking within the black earth in particular)
When it’s time to amend the lawn, or get ready to overseed I am all set
Same with getting the first planters going for flowers & veggies
ProMix is my go to for those
And it’s also my biggest expense
So any money I can save by buying in the Autumn is good
Otherwise in the Spring I am looking for the oversized bales (112 Litres)
But they are often harder to find
I pick up bags of compost, manure, and peat moss in the Spring if I need it … depends what I have leftover from the previous year
Those you can usually find on sale late April / early May
These are the “extra ingredients” that I mix in to whatever recipe I need for the planting I am doing
They are more “the seasoning” tho so I don’t need as much
Black Earth & ProMix are my bigger needs
So saving on them is my first priority

Unfortunately I ordered the bag from yellow bag since I saw a lot of people on the street got the soil from them..sickcars wrote: ↑ This is a company a family member has used in the past and just recently got a few more bags of soil.
