Solved - Windows 7 Pro desktop can't detect DVD drive

My desktop can't detect DVD drive. I have this drive since day 1, it was detected before. In BIOS it is seen and indicated. However, in Windows 7, I don't see in Windows Explorer. Is there a way to get it back with without re-install W7. Thanks.

could be as simple as forcing windows to assign a letter to the dvd drive in Admin, tools > Computer Management > Storage then selecting the drive right click to assign a letter.

Right click on 'computer' go to manage>device manager>DVD Drive and uninstall the driver, then re-install (if needed go to the DVD drive manufacturers site and grab their version)
Failure at this point; it's likely the DVD drive is either toast, or the cables connecting are not.
