SPG AMEX 20,000 Bonus points, 25000 if Marriott Member *TARGETED*

Just got the card and called to confirm. The lady on the phone also told me that my first year is free but YMMV. I got her name and ID number in case I am charged.

Are you mentioning always there welcome bonus of 20,000 points?

Subtle hint of referring people is same as blatant referral.

There is? I thought this was a special offer or something :S

Mods - Close if cold. I guess the extra 5000 points for being Marriott might be new at least?

First year is free but YMMV < is this like a link people can use or is this specific to your situation? If free is indeed attainable then okay I see merit in that.

Yes, the 20K points has been standard for the past few years. No referral needed, just sign up on the AMEX website.

The 25K points is due to the closing the Chase Marriott card, as of next Thursday. As a consolation, those of us who had that card can sign up for 25K Starpoints instead, although those of us who have both cards get nothing (not that I'm bitter, or anything). It's meant to be for Chase Marriott cardholders only, but maybe they've expanded it (or aren't checking).

So basically I called AMEX number on the back of the card to ask about the terms and the lady said after looking at my account that there's 20,000 bonus points, 5,000 for being Marriott, and free first year. I was prepared to pay the first year fee so I found that surprising but I took down her name and ID number in case I get charged

How did you get first year free? It's supposed to be $120, yes for the Chase Marriott visa member offer.

I'm not really sure tbh... I really hope they honour it. If I have the employee name and ID they should be able to honour it no?
