[Sport Chek] Fitbit Charge 3 $98.98

Decent deal for anyone looking for an activity tracker.

Sport check and affiliates have discounted Fitbit by 30 bucks. If you signup for their email, you can get additional 10 bucks off, which makes it a good deal.
I got one for me and my wife, came out to 90+ tax.

Google is going through the legal hoops to complete the purchase of Fitbit which was announced Nov 2019 for $2.1 billion.

Some may not want Google to have access to their health tracking.

Almost every single person I know who owns (or has owned) a Charge 3 has had it fail to varying degrees and needed a warranty replacement.

I've owned several Fitbit products over the years and pretty much all of them have failed. Flex, One, Force, Charge, Charge 2, Charge 3.

Most recently I owned the Charge 3. Randomly the screen stops responding. If I plug it in the charger and reboot it it works again. The altimeter is also broken and counts stairs incorrectly. It'll say I've done 50+ flights in a day sometimes when clearly I'm not even close as I average 10-20.

Recently bought a Garmin and stopped using the Fitbit. I will say that the sleep tracking on Fitbit is pretty good though.

I got my wife one for Xmas in 2018. Had it replaced under warranty about 6 months in. The second one died about 7 months later but now was out warranty as the 1 year warranty clock doesn't reset with the replacement. They offered her 25% off a new one. Did not and will not buy another Fitbit product.

I would go for Garmin Vivosmart 4 (120$) or Huawei Band 4 Pro (70$)

Personally, I've been using the Charge 2 HR for two and a half years now. I'm happy with it. Battery is still great. I did have to disable constant notifications. It was useful, but was killing the battery. Now I go anywhere from 4-7 days on a charge.

Been thinking of upgrading because the screen has a big scratch. Also been through several bands. Some official, some unofficial.

Why would you get this when the mi band 5 is roughly $45 CAD? get an oled screen and colours.

Yup, my gf's charge 3 broke a week before warranty expired. After several emails back and worth, saying to reset it and other stuff which didn't work, they then come back and say "sorry, you're out of the warranty perod " and offered a 25% code.

Never buying a Fitbit product ever again.

SpO2 monitor is a big difference in hardware, for example.

Fitbit software is likely to be overall better than Xiaomi's.

Wow they really went downhill. When they first started any sort of anything wrong with it, they would ship out a new one to you.

I have had my Charge 3 since Sep 2019, no issues and love the latest firmware update.

Fitbit customer service is atrocious. As for the quality of the devices, I have had to use warranty replacement on the silicone wristband of my charge 3 (costs $40 to replace outside of warranty). The process wasn't easy and a lot of necessary battling with the company. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this product.

When I did my research on fitness trackers

FitBit was top tier for software, social sharing, and warranty (which apparently you'll use a lot...).
Garmin was better for hardware (durability/longevity).

I went with Garmin.

Another consideration is the watch band for those rectangular fitness trackers tend to break within a year and since they're an odd shape, they're harder or more expensive to replace when the warranty is over. So I opted for the standard watch size on my Garmin Vivoactive 3. Doesn't look as sleek, but lots of options if I ever want to change the band.

I've been using my Charge 3 since the end of 2018 to track my runs and hikes. Except for the broken band (which got replaced for free), I haven't really had any other issues with it. Maybe I'm just lucky but I wouldn't rely too much on the step counts and other stats as they are clearly not 100% accurate. They are an approximate.

Probably wouldn't get another Fitbit but I'm curious how different Charge 4 is.

I am shocked to hear about the quality of the fitbits.

I am still rocking Fitbit 2 and other than the occasional arm band changes, the base unit runs perfectly.

Not really worth it unless you want to use built in GPS for charge 4 (which drains battery) or being able to control spotify music on it.
