[Sport Chek] Osprey Transporter 44L $114.88

If you're thinking about traveling soon then some of the Osprey backpacks are on sale at Sportchek. Had my eye on this Osprey Transporter 44L that can be carried as a backpack and on the shoulder. Has an urban look to it and can be used for business travel as well. It's on clearance and beats the price on most US sites. Plus you may be able to stack other Sportchek promo coupons to make it even cheaper. Please note that it's final sale. Happy Travels!

The brand is Osprey.

Style might not be for everybody, but Osprey's guarantee is no joke

Buy a bag from them and you're basically set for life

Edit: Looks like they're having a clearance on other models as well. Made a post with links and prices to all

Travellers, not tourists, use Osprey.

Very impressed with my osprey backpack. I regularly overstuff it and generally don’t treat it that well and it has shown zero signs of wear. A lesser backpack would probably have ripped by now.

Well put.

Osprey is the Apple of this niche, in all the positive ways that can be taken.

Osprey is pricey but probably the best designed and made bag I've used. I have one Osprey day pack that I've used pretty frequently for over 20 years and it still looks ok, zippers still work, seams are intact. Quite a few other bags/laptop carriers have been destroyed in that time. Not many products compare to this brand.

I would say it's normally true, but this is a rectangular, carry-on maxed out dimensions sized bag...
Probably not very confy, especially if you fill it up since all the weight would be resting on your shoulders.

IMO a carry-on bag doesn't need to be as sturdy as its unlikely to be tossen around by handlers vs checked luggages.
I'll rather get a more confy bag that you wouldn't mind having it on while strolling around town vs that chunky bag that you're most likely only carrying from the airport to the taxi, to the hotel and want it off your back ASAP lol

I myself have gotten a Gregory Paragon 48L, has a suspension and ventilated mesh back and had no problem using it on my trips, similar dimensions and weight as this Osphey but a bit taller if you fill it up to the brim, the top can be removed as well if an air line gives you trouble.

lol.. I would say amazonbasics copies osprey, not the other way around. And, the bags are nothing alike aside from max capacity of 44L (and both being rectangular).

Spend the extra and get the Osprey, unless you're not worried about quality then save some money and get the Amazon one. Depends on your usage.

I've been interested in an Osprey for awhile as I had been planning a long European trip pre-pandemic. I usually have my bags checked as I tend to stay in one place when I travel, but with multiple cities and a lot of train travel and short flights, I am thinking of just bringing carry-on for this next trip. For those with experience with these bags, what would be the best for carry-on?

The Paragon and Transporter are two completely different bags not even serving the same purpose (other than being a backpack).

Sizing wise they are similar, I bought my Paragon to use as a carry-on bag and it served me well.

Sure.. but it's not a really carry-on bag unless it's ~ half empty (because of the shape) and as a airline bag would be more geared towards folks who are flying somewhere to live out of a bag (ie camping, backpacking, etc.). I see people load the planes with them all the time fully packed, so it depends on your flight crew, but yeah those things do not fit well in the overhead (i.e. takes up an entire overhead bin since it needs to go lengthwise) - to be fair I also see a load of people with wayy oversized "carry-on" roller bags trying to stuff them overhead.

I (maybe you) wouldn't rock that bag on your 2 day trip to NYC, for example, especially if it's for work. Nice bag? Yeah, but serves a different niche than the transporter.

I trekked around Asia with this bag for 2 months through 5 different countries, and was quite impressed with it. It is very roomy inside, and has lots of zipper compartments that almost forgo the need for packing cubes. I also like the hidden pocket behind the shoulder straps for extra security. I like the minimal look of it and how you can pack away the straps, but I will say the TPU-plastic covering does get visible scratches and scuffs when I chose to bag check, or from being stuffed somewhere. I don't mind the scratches, and maybe Osprey would take it back because of their warranty? I plan on using this bag for business trips and such in the future.

My girlfriend had the more traditional Osprey Fairview 40 which had similar functionality but a more comfortable harness and the fabric isn't prone to scratched/scuffs. We both liked our respective bags for the airport trips and going from hostel to hostel.
