[Sport Chek] Sportchek Employee pricing (Alberta - today only, in-store only)

Expiry:: December 21, 2019
Retailer:: Sport Chek

Just heard this directly from a Sportchek/Atmosphere employee, but haven't confirmed it yet myself. She said that at all Sportchek/Atmosphere stores across Alberta for today only (December 20, 2019), you can get the employee discount by saying "snowman" at the till. Again, I haven't confirmed this, but it's straight from one of their employees and she said they were doing it at their store and should be across Alberta.

I just called Sportcheck and the employee confirmed this was true. Unsure of the discount though.

It's actually employee pricing. VIP pricing is cost + 15%, employee pricing is cost + 10%, so this is actually more of a discount than the VIP.

I actually did pause for a second because I thought she was messing with me haha

But a few others around RFD have confirmed it works, but apparently not all stores are participating. It sounds like it's mainly for the stores that are trying to hit year-end targets for Christmas bonuses.

I've heard some say that Apple is excluded from these sales. But even if it is included, apparently the markup on electronics is very low so the discount is pretty minimal. If you paid full price for them though, it might be worth checking out.

Is the discount targeted at the general population or suppose to be directed more at employee family and friends? I'm always happy to save a buck but these secret code promos just seem weird in a way, like you are doing something sneaky or wondering till the last second whether it's going to work or if you are going to have egg on your face. Are people just saying that a friend told them about the promotion?

Also, does anyone know if there are any known exclusions from past employee pricing events? I.e Jordans, arcteryx, etc
