I received this email too. It didn't say what brands get what discounts though.

It varies between the brands, as the basis of the discount is "cost + X%." It's likely 15-20%, as the employee discount is "cost + 10%." The cost for every brand/item is different and varies on many factors. Soft goods items like shirts, shorts, socks, will have a margin of 40-60%, meaning a $20 shirt will have a cost of $8, but you would pay $8 + 20% = $9.60, which is a 52% discount.

Best way to determine the final price of each product is to take a pile to the cash register and figure it out there; a pain, yes, but the only way.

Generally, the greatest discount is with house-branded softgoods (Woods, FireFly, etc), then hardgoods (soccer balls, hockey sticks), with Tech having the smallest discount. Often times tech's margins are so small the cost+% "discount" ends up within 5% of the posted price. It's better to buy these things with gift cards with CT has 20% off giftcard sales, coupling them with the $20-50 off tech stuff gets once a year.

First time I've ever seen this email and so I've never participated in it.

Basically, you're saying you walk around with a shopping cart and you throw a bunch of things in there hoping that the "price is right" and if it isn't you walk out your head down low. Sounds like a restocking persons nightmare => I'll be taking the week off from today onward.

is the barcode linked to the triangle rewards #?
will they ask for the rewards # at the register, or just the barcode?

Sport chek gave me this invite last month when I was in Bangkok but this time when I need to buy shoes, I didn't get the invite. Annoying!
