Good price on the 5s, I’m deciding between it and the 4S that Costco carries.

Same for me .. or a used Peloton, I'm leaning towards the 5s for the bigger screen.

Was deciding between this one and the 4s+ at costco.

Went with the one at costco because it comes with a touch screen and 1 year membership. The sporting life does not include a membership from what I remember.

Also read that the 4s+ and the 5s are pretty much the same. It’s only when you go to the 5s+ there is a difference.

I like the 4S+ but wish the screen was bigger and can rotate...it's a bit impractical trying to take stretching or toning classes when you're standing behind the bike and having to squint just to see the smaller display.

And although the 4S+ from Costco comes with a 1-year Echelon membership, it seems like anybody can get that just be selecting Costco from the drop-down list of retailers when registering a new account with Echelon...

looking to purchase the EX5 model. Good price with the discount.

Seems like the only difference between the EX5 and EX5s is that that EX5s comes with a tablet. Reviews shows the tablet that comes with EX5s can only be used for Echelon App. I rather buy the Ex5 and attach my own tablet and run various apps (paleton, echelon, spinco).

Any other suggestions out there?

We have the EX5S for about a year now.
It's an android based tablet. There are a few articles/videos out there on how to root it and add Youttube, Peleton, netflix, etc.
I don't remember which guide I followed, but you can also add Nova Launcher and a "back button."
Also not sure if the option is still available for the free year sub when you choose Costco as the retailer (when registering the bike).

This relates to all echelon bikes with screens.

You can use echelon sub with the screen or, you can root the tablet and use it for other services or, other apps like YouTube etc. Or, in my case, I just unplugged the screen (there is a power plug on the back) and effectively, my bike echelon ex4s became ex3, I put my iPad with the folio case, the cover flap over the screen and used Zwift and QZ app on my iPhone. I simply did not need the screen because Zwift is not compatible with the version of Android on EX4S.
I know that using the screen as an iPad stand is not economical but, I did not plan it as I thought I would use echelon workouts… not my piece of cake I guess. I like racing types of workouts more than this echelon/peloton type.

And, to everyone who owns and did not know or, thinking about purchasing echelon bike with a screen and not sure if you like echelon workouts or not. No, you are not locked into using echelon subs only if you have a bike with a screen because connection between bike and the screen is Bluetooth. Therefore, you can simply disconnect the bike tablet and instead of it you can use iPad, iPhone or other android devices. This is a huge misconception that owning echelon bike with a screen somehow locks you into echelon workouts.

Got the echelon sport at Walmart for $599. Really tempted to get the EX5 for the handle bar adjustment (short arms so a bit hunched over when biking) and auto follow.

Bought the EX-5 from Costco last year after reading about all the problems and returns and frustration with Peloton QC deterioration. Couldn't be happier. The Echelon seems every bit as high quality as Peloton for about half the cost, plus Costco added benefits. We chose to use our own Ipad as a monitor after reading that the Echelon option is on the low-res side. Works great. Just be ready to handle some decent weight getting these up a staircase.

Got the Echelon EX5. Will just attach my own tablet and try out different apps (Paleton, Youtube, Echelon).

Which tablet do you have attached to the bike? I guess the screen size of the tablet is more of a personal preference at this rate.

Thanks

This is the best deal in this thread right now. Don't get fooled into thinking you have to get the tablet with an echelon. This is the best echelon bike by far and stick it with an iPad or whatever other tablet for your workouts and you're set. My subscription I got with Costco on the 4s expired this year and since then I've been using Apple Fitness+ on my iPad with it, had to remove the existing tablet and Jerry rig a mount for the iPad but it all works with the qdomyos app.

I'd say to anyone here get this ex-5 at this great price and try out a bunch of subscriptions to see which you prefer.

Is it worth trying other apps not from echelon? Wouldn't you lose a lot of functionality like leaderboards and seeing the energy you put in directly on the app? I have the echelon connect from last year

My 1 year sub expired and it's $500 to renew

Can you use any of these bikes with zwift? Will it automatically change resistance? New to this and interested in getting into zwift but not sure how compatible everything is.

If anyone is interested, I got an answer to my own question. There is an app you can purchase for 8 bucks that syncs your echelon with zwift and allows zwift to automatically adjust resistance based on your ride. https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... omyoszwift
