Sportsbooks voiding winning bets head of Ontario legal day, any bettors here?

Have you guys noticed the current sportsbooks who got their licenses starting to void our future bets?

Almost every book is doing so. For me, that's Unibet and Coolbet. I have Grizzlies & Sun division titles that are actually won because they have locked the 1st seeds, but NBA season ends after April 4th so they are void my bets, which makes no sense at all.

That's like robbing your bank account, are there any fellow bettors here that have the same situation? The sportsbooks that are doing this are actually approved for license. These books shouldn't get their license because of their wrongdoing, can we get AGCO to help?

Same! I made a bet for Scottie Barnes for NBA Rookie of the Year and another bet for the Raptors to make the playoffs with Bet365. Both bets were made last October, and both were set to pay out in April. Suddenly *poof*, Bet365 decides they're just going to void the bets as if they never happened. To make matters worse, their customer service keeps telling me that I can "cash out the bets as a goodwill gesture", but guess what? They seem to have removed the cash out options from everybody's account.

This has got to be illegal. I am also considering contacting a lawyer about this.

Update: I finally received a phone call from a Bet365 supervisor named Scott (he refused to provide his last name for "privacy reasons"). I was verbally assured that if any of my future bets end up winning after April 4 that I should contact their support department and they will pay out the difference between the winning value and the refunded stake (which is being voided on April 3 at 11:59 pm).

Of course, this was just a verbal "assurance", and nothing is in writing, so I'm very dubious they will actually honour our agreements.

If they do not, I will probably need to take legal action. The funny thing is this was literally the first time I've ever bet on sports in my life. I think it's safe to say it will be my last!

I don't make sports bets, but wow!

Had no idea these sites can just void bets for whatever reason.

That is a scam.

Interesting. I have several futures with Bet365 that are going to be voided and I spoke with their customer service via chat. They only reiterated the same thing as their e-mail - that all unsettled bets were going to be voided at 23:59 Apr 3. I asked if I could speak with someone on the phone and they said their "phone lines were off" - they didn't even offer the option to have someone call me back when I asked. I hope what they told you was true and that they will pay out the difference in these bets afterwards. Even worse is they encourage cashing out ahead of Apr 4 but they have removed the cash out option from most of my futures.

I already registered for theScore Bet and plan on using them from now on.

No, the lawmaker ask them to do so, pls check out my other post. We need to let AGCO know they made a mistake

Yes, I had the same experience with their online chat. They keep reiterating that all bets are void, and no, they can't explain why they are not offering cash out values to wagers with a decent chance of winning. I refused to close the chat, kept repeating that "your explanations are unacceptable", and eventually they offered to have a supervisor call me back. Of course, this callback was supposed to happen at 11am the next morning, but Scott the supervisor ended up calling me at 1pm, where I was told that I contact them back in the event that my bet(s) end up winning and they would "pay the difference". Of course, no last name was provided and he refused to put this in writing, instead assuring me that there was a note on my account.

I am dubious, but I will give them a chance to make this right before I escalate things.

I agree that if they end up failing to honour our bets, that we should band together and complain to the AGCO in an attempt to revoke their licence in Ontario.

But in regards to the bets themselves, my understanding is this would be a breach of contract, and we would need to recoup the money through civil court.

Again, I'm going to give them a chance to pay me the money owed. Legal action is a last resort.

You have to place the same bet on the new site in order to have them "pay the difference" right?
