I did not proceed because of it. It will be better if they terminate it and I decides if I want to continue it or not.

John Tory Negative Billing is Alive and Well :)

We should be complaining to the CRTC to stop this type of process. If it is free, provide the service free to the customer without credit card info. If they want the service after a certain period, let them subscribe to it. Lots of companies do this (Google, Netflix, etc.) but this does not make it right.

There was a law passed about this but it has more holes than a slice of swiss cheese : http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/negativ ... -1.1151135

Damn, I would have considered keeping it. Now I have to take my laptop and connect to TV to watch.
Or would it be easier to use my phone and screencast to TV?

I just signed up for the free month and noticed this in the welcome email:
You will be charged your first monthly payment on Sep 22, 2016, at the conclusion of your free trial period.

So one free month is actually just 7 days.. why would I be billed on Sep 22nd? I would have expected the 15th of October.

[EDIT] I think I may have missed the promo code field. Probably just my mistake but don't recall seeing it..
[EDIT 2] Yeah I didn't see the field. Watch for it on the payment page - you have to click a "do you have a promo code?" link to reveal it

It's funny and arrogance.
This is still a great deal for soccer fans. I don't watch hockey, I still got this for EPL.
Obviously there's less 'legit' way to watch EPL (think every Canadian soccer fan knows how), but these Sportsnet streams are good.
fyi, if soccer fans do not have 'Sportsnet World' cable/satellite subscription, they would need Sportsnet World NOW to watch the English Premier League
