Even if you cancel immediately, you'll still get that 1 month of service -- the service is prepaid so you pay for 1 month right away.

Isn't there a 30 day trial period first ?

Why are y'all canceling right away, maybe you end up enjoying the service and decide that you'd prefer it over something else
Signed up nearly a year ago with every intention of cancelling when the 3 month promo ended. Turns out I enjoy the convenience of streaming and Spotify has every single music release I've requested.

I've noticed this is a common practice with subscriptions. Netflix, Amazon, they do the same thing too.

You have to contact them to get the current subscription refund. Otherwise it just stops future payments and you can use the service for what you already paid for.

I believe it is a way to get a few bucks out of you. And to try and get people to use it and possibly come back. Such as, shucks I already paid might as well try it and then BAM you are hooked.

Anyways. Most of the times just reach out to them for the refund on what you already paid. Do this sooner rather than later incase they do prorating.
There is no need to spread misinformation.
Spotify is a prepaid service, they don't offer (partial) refunds or prorate their fees.
New signups are fully refundable only for the first 14 days provided that you never accessed the service.
Furthermore, for this specific promo they made it a part of the T&C that there is no (partial) refund policy whatsoever since they will consider the service "accessed" the moment they process your $9.99.

Why are y'all canceling right away, maybe you end up enjoying the service and decide that you'd prefer it over something else or it's your first music subscription then you have more steps to do to reactivate it?

If y'all think you would forget to cancel if you don't like it you can always ask Google using your new GHM to remind you in a few days to cancel.
There is no real need to cancel immediately, that said, re-activation isn't that big deal either.

This probably means your paid subscription already started, check your account (and credit card account), the message means you need to wait for them to create a claim code for you.

I made my old free account into a premium and forgot how much I really enjoy this. Made some nice playlists and discovered some new songs. I’ll load it on my wife’s phone so she can look for some songs too. If it wasn’t $9.99 a month, I would consider subscribing.
