Thanks op. Does this offer stack? (no pun intended:)

i.e. If we purchase a second voucher code, will it extend the subscription to 6 years?

Hmm...lifetime isn’t actually lifetime. On the confirmation page, there’s a note that says

“After 10 years, you will need to email Windscribe's support team in order to have access for 10 years at no additional cost.”

Guess lifetime means 20 years. Lol. Still a good deal though. Comes out to $1.90USD/year if I do get 20 years out of it.

Windscribe is very good for torrenting. It's reliable and fast. No problems with uploading.

Timbo420 wrote: lol, wut? You might be doing something illegal. What you said is not right and I hope you're just not a technical person who misunderstands the situation rather than engaging in fraud. What you mean, is that you email the ISP, not people. You also mean some sort of Internet security company (Ie, IP-Echelon), NOT the Internet Service Providers. So I think what you're doing is sending out 10,000 emails to half a dozen abuse@ISP.com or copyright@ISP.com. Also, they are notices of infringement, not Cease and Desist.

The ISP DOES NOT supply the IP to the law firm, the law firm (more accurately the technical company the studio hired) needs to supply the IP addresses TO the ISP so the ISP knows WHICH ACCOUNT the IP was bound to at the time of alleged infringement. Then the ISP passes along the message to the account contact. The law firm has no idea who the user is in the first place, only an IP. They need the ISP to find out who the actual user is. I don't even know if the ISP is allowed to tell the law firm who the user is, as that would be a violation of Canadian privacy rules (requires a court order), part of the reason this infringement stuff hasn't gone anywhere. This is often why these infringement notices want the user to contact them and basically volunteer them payment for the infringement. And why you can ignore them right now without much consequence.

*pulls up previous infringement notices from Shaw*

Body contains the forwarded email from the 'copyright holder'.

Here is Shaw's info page, which states:
So to clarify, the letters sent out by my law firm were not Cease and Desist letters, but in fact are Statement of Claim letters. Just for your info I am in fact an IT person working in a law firm and am not a lawyer myself. It was my job to do a mail merge with the Statement of Claim letters with the 10,000 or so IP addresses, names and addresses that were supplied by the ISP, and let me assure you the ISP did supply names and addresses in addition to IP addresses. (I know because I have a whole spreadsheet full of them!)

Here is the wording of the letters sent out for your perusal:
Please find attached a Statement of Claim in this matter served on you in conformance with the Federal Courts Rules.

THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS COURT PROCEEDING AND WE URGE YOU TO SEEK LEGAL COUNSEL TO REVIEW THIS LETTER AND THE STATEMENT OF CLAIM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AS A STATEMENT OF DEFENCE MUST BE FILED BY YOU WITHIN 30 DAYS. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE OR KNOW YOUR OWN LAWYER, OR IF YOU REQUIRE LEGAL COUNSEL PLEASE CONTACT THE LAW SOCIETY OF UPPER CANADA REFERRAL SERVICE AT https://www.lsuc.on.ca/lsrs/ OR PRO BONO LAW ONTARIO (PBLO) AT https://www.probonoontario.org/application/.

Note that you are being served with this Statement of Claim as the Plaintiff alleges that your internet account has been associated with activity which they claim violates its copyright in certain cinematic works. Your information has been ordered disclosed in accordance with a motion brought by the Plaintiff in this proceeding. The Federal Court of Canada court order associated with that motion is attached hereto. If you desire the reasons of the Court in association with this order please contact **** at the information set out at the top of this letter and we will send them to you at no charge.

Note also that:

1. NO COURT HAS YET DETERMINED THAT YOU ARE LIABLE FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF ANY OF THE PLAINTIFF’S MOVIES.
2. NO COURT HAS YET DETERMINED THAT YOU ARE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES FOR ANY POTENTIAL COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

Please review these materials carefully and seek legal advice. Please note that **** is not your lawyer and we represent the Plaintiff in this proceeding.
Yours truly,

****
Now if you think that something illegal was done here then I invite you to sue the law firm that I work for, or if you think receiving a statement of claim letter is in fact an idle threat, then that's your prerogative. The point of all this is:

If you use bit torrent to download files then you had better be using a VPN (or SOCKS5 proxy) to mask your activities as law firms can get this information from your ISP and send statement of claim letters to you. If this is something that you would rather avoid then be careful when you torrent.

Thank you OP. Got the Lifetime (20 years) for ~$50 CAD. Awesome deal, and I am very happy the money is going to a Canadian company.

Claimed a voucher in my existing account and it switched it to the package I bought. I had the free before. I believe it will stack on existing subscription if you already have a balance in your account. Fire them an email to be 100% certain.

Thanks again OP.

I have a few questions. I haven't ordered from StackSocial before or Windscribe.

1) The price on StackSocial is showing $22.49. Does the price change to once the order has been made?
2) Once the purchase has been made through StackSocial, do they provide login credentials for Winscribe?

I ordered last night too as i like the look of the user interface for windows and also on the phones. A lot better than the FrostVPN deal from a couple of years back which is expiring soon for me.

however, speed is not great though when connecting to a local Canadian server. I wonder if there is a setting I'm missing which is slowing things down.

Thanks for bringing this up! I've been patiently waiting for a VPN deal these last 2 years ish - was tempted to buy in a few times with PIA and FrostVPN but this time around is a price and service I'm very comfortable with - can't beat $12ish USD for 3 years.
