Stadia controller question

Merry Christmas all. Was hoping to get Stadia set up for my daughter. I set it up on PC through google chrome but my old Logitech joystick doesn't work with it. I read I can use some xbox controllers with it (360, one). I don't have any one of those so I would order it from Amazon (with everything closed and stuff). If I order a third party 360 controller, would that work with Stadia, or do i need the original microsoft one?

Based on this, it appears Google only supports official Xbox controllers, the PS4's Dualshock 4 and the Switch's Pro controller. Any other aftermarket controller...is YMMV. Not too much of a surprise as there's far too many 3rd party controllers of variable quality from great to terrible. Effectively if you're going the route of 3rd party controllers, you're pretty much beta testing if you got no info online and unless a bunch of people have done it, so its still sort of a beta test even if one person did it, so you want a very good return policy.
