Standing Desk Deals

The original Motiongrey deal for a dual motor, 2 segment desk is over (was $309 with a coupon 'motion')

A hot deal for a dual motor desk is around $300. But quality, customer service and shipping times vary.

Things to consider:
- 2 segment vs 3 segment: 3 segment is sturdier, has a lower minimum height. (Check this link for best ergonomics for your height and if you need/want the extra range: https://www.btod.com/standing-height-calculator.html)
- single motor vs dual motor: dual motor usually supports more weight (consider your monitors, tabletop weight)
- warranty period (motor could burn out and you could be stuck with a lopsided desk)
- height memory functions

Here's a good post that lists standing desk companies, their warranty, etc..
jmarco1201 wrote: VertDesk doesn't ship to Canada. Fully Jarvis would have shipped from the US, and I was concerned with shipping delays. It shouldn't have duties since both are manufactured in North America. Taxes will still be charged.

I ultimately bought the Autonomous SmartDesk2 Premium.

My experience so far.
- Purchased on April 20. Tracking number April 22. Shipped Apr 23. Arrived Apr 24.
- Shipped in two pieces. Frame and table top. Weighed ~40lbs and ~70lbs
- Well-packed. Took 10-15 mins to remove the packaging.
- Table top comes with pre-marked/drilled holes
- Took 40-60 mins with power tools to assemble
- Seems sturdy and stable at its lowest and highest height settings

My decision making process. I wanted a table top and frame combo with three segment and dual motor. I looked into the PrimeCables, Ikea, Motion Grey, EffyDesk, BTOD VertDesk, Fully Jarvis, Autonomous Premium.

PrimeCables for single motor. No.
- single motor. Recent RFD discussion thread on single motor: primecablescom-electric-sit-stand-adjus ... 9-2365278/
- height range: 27.9" - 47.6" (71-121cm)
- max load: 70kg or ~154lb
- 1 year warranty
- Dual motor version also available: https://www.primecables.ca/c-18886-sit- ... -solutions

Ikea. No because I didn't want to wait 6 weeks and I didn't want to deal with missing screws/assembly issues
- SKARSTA. Manual crank (no motors). 27½"-47¼". Max 50kg/110lbs. Price: $239
- BEKANT. 25⅝"-49¼". Max 70kg/154 lbs. Price: $419
- IDASEN. Three segment. 24¾"-50". Max 75kg/165lbs. Bluetooth. Price: $599
- shipping $59
- 6 week shipping delay, according to Ikea site
- 10 year warranty
- 365 day return

Motion Grey Can buy the Autonomous for ~$60 more
- both Motion Grey and EffyDesk seem to be the same company
- dual motor
- three segment
- height range: 60.3cm-127.8cm or 23.74"-50.31"
- max load: 102 kg or ~ 225lbs
- 3 year warranty
- coupon code: VANCOUVER or ONTARIO $20 off
- total cost with standard table top, taxes and shipping included: CDN$519.79

EffyDesk has the same specs as Motion Grey. Only differences:
- 5 year warranty
- no coupon code (tried effy, effydesk, vancouver, toronto, ontario, wfh)
- Bitcoin option
- total cost with standard table top, taxes and shipping included: $627.14
- Autonomous is cheaper, more well-known, better warranty, offers trial

BTOD VertDesk. Would have been a contender, but does not appear to ship to Canada.
- Obvious bias aside, good review https://www.btod.com/blog/vertdesk-v3-review/
- Only one with cross-support (out of the choices here), which would increase stability
- dual motor
- three segment
- height range: 27” – 47.5”
- max load: 275 lbs
- coupon code: WFH2020 5% off
- many customizable options (extra $): square/rounded edges, grommets/pop-up, drawers, casters, wire management, monitor arms, CPU holder
- 10 years frame, 5 years desktop and 7 years electronics
- basic, no frills option cost: US$592.78 before taxes
- Doesn't ship to Canada

Fully Jarvis Shipment fee for returns and possible shipping delay (stuck at border) killed it
- dual motor
- three segment
- height range: 24.5" to 50" for Extended and 29" – 48.25" for Mid Range
- US$20 more for Extended range version
- max load: 350 lb
- 7 year warranty
- 30-day risk free return policy with shipment fee for returns in Canada https://www.fully.com/returns
- ship from USA
- Good review https://www.btod.com/blog/fully-jarvis-desk-review/
- better reviewed and responses than Autonomous on r.eddit
- cost for Extended: US$489 + 72.75 shipping = US$561.75
- FX costs, taxes

Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Winner
- dual motor
- three segment
- height range: 26" - 52" for Premium and 29.5" - 48" for Home
- max load: 300 lb
- warranty: 7 years for Premium and 5 years for Home
- RFD reports 5-7 day shipping from Concord costco-bestar-standing-desk-319-2365101/28/#p32398404
- 15-day trial period with return shipping covered in Canada https://www.autonomous.ai/shipping-return-policy
- Good review https://www.btod.com/blog/autonomous-sm ... -2-review/
- R.eddit posts indicate possible shipping delays; RFD indicates 5-day shipping from Concord
- Coupon: BRAVEXHERO 10% OFF
- Total cost for Premium with table top, taxes, shipping, and coupon code applied: CDN$578.67

Says • Choose between the 3 different laminated tabletop sizes:

I think thats where the deal is, even though its probably really cheap material.

Otherwise this one that comes on sale at 250ish every other month + a tabletop of your choice would be a better solution:

I don’t recall 250ish but did check out last year at 299. Couldn’t be happier. Got the Karlby top like many others.

Maybe not 250 every other month then, But I've seen it as low as 239 I think. 250 every now and then, but almost 299 all the time.

I got the primecables desk. it was 203.99 before tax. 230.51 after, and then I put a 50 dollar ikea table top. I would wait on the primecables one.

Has anybody bought this yet? I don't see the option where it allows you to choose the table top and the desk pictures doesn't show the monitor holders.

Edit: Sorry, I misread, it says dual motor, not monitor. Does anyone know how you can select your table top however?

I got the three segment version with Ikea Karby countertop about a week ago. I'm loving it. I think I received it next day after ordering.

The primecables one you bought, was it also motorized with preset memory functions? I'm in the market for one, but not a rush.. thanks.

I bought this at the end of March, but through EffyDesk (same company as mine came in a MG box). Couldn't be happier with the product. I didn't even think I'd need the memory settings but they have been great for the adjustments. Desk is smooth and can currently handle my set-up of a laptop, large monitor and keyboard. I ended up getting the 'business base' as they sold out of the every day model. Not sure what the difference is on MG. Shipping was fast (received within 2 days of ordering) and easy to set-up. On the MG website, read the product title as it looks like a top colour is already pre-selected. I will say their customer service responds really fast so might want to try there if you can't customize online!

I have the 3 segment from Motion Grey and it's been working great. Easy to install and set up and goes all the way down to 60cm. With my chair and typing position I like to have it at 64cm. The 2 segment listed only goes down to 70cm though. I paired mine with an IKEA Gerton and stained it myself.

Holy crap, staring at the page trying to figure out how this was "Dual Monitor" and thinking maybe they include the standard, or perhaps they mean it's wide enough for two monitors. Didn't realize I read it wrong until just now.
