[Staples] $60 HP Officejet Pro 6978 Colour All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Reg $230)

I just came across this and looks like a decent deal. Many other competitors has this going for $100+. Staples right now has FS over items over $35 so this applies. It also shows next day delivery. Not going to complain there. It's a bit more bulky than I prefer but I can live with it. This model is part of the HP Instant Ink program as well.

This being an OfficeJet PRO wouldn’t qualify for the free tier of instant ink tho.

Please DON'T PM me for SPC codes, kindly ask for them in the Samsung thread's (HOT DEALS) section and I will respond with one.

I thought for PRO series you could call HP and ask them to enrol you in the free tier?

I bought this in Fall 2016 for $60. In fall 2018 it broke. It was still under my credit card’s warranty. I tried to get it fixed but I had to pay $60 for a diagnostic fée and the max my credit card was going to cover was $60. So I didn’t bother.

At this price point, these things should be treated as disposable goods. A $60 printer isn't worth the time, money or energy to fix.

Comes with a free 2-month trial, or in my case, it was 4 months when I signed up my wife.

Also, this is almost a regular price for it - same I paid for Amazon four years ago, and my wife bought two weeks ago.

Bought one, gonna return if it isn't part of the instant ink deal. Already have a different printer under the program, but it's been having some very obnoxious issues that I've got to contact hp about

Someone further back said if you call HP, they can add it to the free instant ink tier. You have to call tho.

Pity no trade in old printer rebate this time around. But for anyone getting this deal and interested in free Instant Ink. Activate on a paid plan and then call in to get support agent to override and change to free 15 page plan. I did it a few hours after activating my account and the following month, new plan went into effect. So best to call in after you've used the free trial period.

In terms of the printer itself, I picked one up recently at this price to replace an OJ Pro 8600 PLus (the 6978 is significantly smaller, particularly the height) and so far so good. The installation went smoothly and notably it auto-updated the internal software, something I haven't seen an HP inkjet printer do before. Print quality is great for the price.
