[Staples] Acer 14-inch Chromebook 314, Intel Celeron N4020, 64 GB eMMC, 4 GB LPDDR4, Chrome OS, 1920 x 1080 IPS - $249.99

According to stocktrack (thanks @seafish) this is an ATL for this product. Well-reviewed basic Chromebook with 1920 x 1080 resolution, as opposed to the 1366x768 which is more common for this style product at this price.

Fair price if you need the screen space.
Otherwise a device like the Duet (usually cheaper when on sale, 2 in 1 form factor) is a good alternative as well.

The intent of such a device would be browsing, streaming. Productivity limited by chrome OS if you do have such a limitation. It just works, so great for seniors as well.

nice price for FHD IPS!

I regret and suffer every day because of getting a Chromebook with HD TN to do online stuff and stream Netflix.

Pentium CPU will be much better.

Celeron has only 2 cores 2 threads.

I had the duet and returned it for the standard laptop format. I found the screen a bit small and the keypad is too tight if you have larger hands. Also, very unstable on you lap when using as a "laptop". Just providing my real world experience.

It depends what you want to do with it. A 10'' is not meant for productivity and obviously the keyboard size is limited by the screen length. I wouldn't recommend it for seniors either because of the screen size and loss of some dexterity but it's great for the kids or a spouse.

It's great as a travel device, especially plane travel. Of course, it's not suitable as a daily driver.

Heck I'll sell my Dell Wyse 5470 (n4100, 1080p IPS, 128GB SSD, 8GB RAM) for $200. $250 for such a basic Chromebook still seems expensive no?

Your Wyse is better.

Chromebooks are suffocatingly limited in my experience.
I aim to be inclusive and considerate of others in my posts. If I fall short of that mark, feel free to let me know in good faith, and where appropriate, I'll edit my posts. Thank you.

I think it just really comes down to expectations. I use it on my lap all the time; I don't expect it to be as solid on my lap as a full laptop. Tear off the keyboard when I don't need it.

Yup, but no touchscreen so some stuff may suck

The Acer CB315 would actually be really interesting if not for the 32Gb of storage. Similar CPU, same RAM, slightly bigger screen size, same screen resolution, adds touchscreen input but the 32Gb can be a problem if you need to store stuff on the device.

Gosh, I guess my HP Stream 14 N4000+FHD (100% RGB)+4GB RAM+64G eMMC shipped with Windows 10 (now installed Chrome OS Flex) from MS Store for $199 4 years ago was such a great deal - even though i almost never used it. lol
