@mikka2017 according to AMD https://www.amd.com/en/products/graphics/radeon-rx-460
RX460 supports freesync
So yes 75HZ not problem
but you need to use displayport

really debating returning the monitor, dont get me wrong its a great monitor for the price.
but i would like a 4K monitor with HDR - just so i can take full advantage with the ps4 pro / xbonex. yes i know that wouldn't be in the same price range.
any recommendations?
so conflicted :(

So after much deliberation and trying to get used to it I ended up returning this monitor for the following reasons:

1. It's too big and you have to do the eye-scanning for corners (unless you sit far enough away) or mount it on an arm to adjust viewing distance - neither of which are options for me
2. The 1440p resolution at 32" is too underwhelming (made a type in an earlier comment and called it overwhelming)
3. The text is just not sharp enough for doing productivity work (such as coding).

After returning this monitor, I picked up the LG 27" 4K UHD 5ms GTG IPS LED Freesync (27UD59P-B.AUS) from BestBuy.

It was $100 more, but the sharpness is unmatched, and I can use it for (mainly) productivity work at 125% resolution scaling so it's somewhere between 1440p and 2160p. Lots of screen real-estate.

And, the 5ms Freesync panel is pretty awesome for gaming.

One downside to note, and others have mentioned this, is that if you play a 1080p game at 2160p (4K) it will be quite soft and look a bit blurry (or odd at least). So, I found the sweet spot in terms of sharpness (and with some settings adjustment) that Medium at 1440p if quite doable for near 60fps on an RX 580. Some titles such as DOOM (2016) can easily do 4K with Vulkan at High settings (middle of the road).

As a bonus, the LG has full adjustable stand, including height, rotate and tilt. And, it has a standard VESA mount. And, don't forget - the better (not by much though) speakers.

It seems that if you really want a nice 1440p panel with Freesync, you're paying upwards of $500++.

In light of the expensive 1440p panels, the 4K monitors seemed better value overall.

I'm quite happy with my purchase of the LG.

Now, if AMD can just hurry up and release a Navi card that can do 2160p native gaming at 60fps for $500 CAD. I'm hoping this will be my next big upgrade next fall/holiday season (2019).

Most PS4 Pro games run at 1440p or an upscale of 1440p so all you're really missing out on is HDR. HDR on budget tvs is usually pretty underwhelming, but I'm not sure how it is on budget monitors.
If you have an xbone x; it runs dynamically somewhere between 1440p and 4k.

Just some things to keep in mind. Hope it helps with your decision making.

Updated ICC profile has been uploaded along with PDF reports! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Settings are as follows:
Mode: User
Gamma: 2.2
Brightness: 27 (for 120 cd/m2)
Rgain: 47
Ggain: 50
Bgain: 51

All other settings left at default factory but feel free to adjust performance settings to taste.

Commentary: Man, this monitor calibrated really nicely second time around! Probably because I remembered a bit more of what I needed to do for set up.

Gamut coverage is 99.8% sRGB, 85.2% Adobe RGB and 90.2% DCI P3. Gamut volume is 134.5%, 92.7% and 95.3% respectively. I was able to achieve a measured whitepoint of 6480K. Colour Temp, Gamma and Grayscale all tracked well, especially for a budget screen.

Enjoy!
After I install the .ICM colour profile, do I adjust anything on the monitor menu?
I don’t know why I have a feeling it’s a bit too bright and colour is a little off.
Thx!

Yes, go into the monitor menu and use "Settings are as follows:"

flanflanjp wrote: Anyone else notice frame skipping / stutter at 1440p at 75 Hz with DP 1.2? I noticed it at first with the cursor, moving windows around on the desktop and then with some games. Decided to test it on https://www.testufo.com/frameskipping and it's skipping every 5th frame

Setting display overdrive to 'Extreme' or toggling freesync doesn't fix it either. Changing to 1400p 60hz fixes the stuttering though.

I'm running it off a GTX 1070 and an i7-4770 with 16GB of ram so my system performance shouldn't be an issue. I've already tried multiple DisplayPort cables as well.

Does anyone else have this problem? Can you run the test? If you don't can you post your monitor settings? I'm currently using the config the OP posted.

This may be related to frame skipping. Try running the same test.
Yes, I noticed the same. So I'm at the 60hz setting now. I'm on a late 2013 Macbook pro

I just finished calibrating my monitor hooked up to a late 2013 MacBook Pro with a Spyder4Pro.

I was able to achieve 100% SRGB with the following settings

Mode: User
Gamma: 2.2
Brightness 23 (100 cd/m2)
Rgain: 63
Ggain: 44
Bgain: 44

Colour Temp was measured to 6514k

I did bother calibrating for the other colour spaces as I never use them.

I think that covers everything.

Hope that helps.

I guess no problem on mine ? 1/10th second exposure ISO 250 (photo)

monitor setting is out of box. I only turn down brightness to 40
video card is RX550
Freesync on
75Hz set

Just a note, I experience this loss in frames with a GTX960 as well. I performed the same test and it skips every few frames consistently. Here's a video of my test.

I do think this is a Nvidia problem. I wouldn't be surprised if Acer built this monitor with only AMD cards in mind. As somewhat of a proof, I'm going out to pick up an AMD Sapphire NITRO+ RX 480 8GB tomorrow for $150. I'll hook it up and run the same test tomorrow, and post the video to see if there's any issues with the AMD platform.

Updating my previous post, with a new test done on an AMD RX 480. Here is a link to the test to perform yourself! RX 480, 75hz works flawlessly. GTX 960, stutter-fest.

Just to expand on this - I disabled Freesync on my monitor, and 75hz still works. The next thing I'm going to try to test is if I can overclock this monitor somehow, and if it requires Freesync to be enabled or disabled to get a higher Hz rating. I'll update here with steps to get this to work if I accomplish anything!

Yep! They even had a program installed to use so I think this is fairly common. I did purchase them first, but was told I’d be able to return/exchange for another if there were any problems.
