With 60hz and 5ms response time, I wonder what they think qualifies as 'gaming'

They slap "gaming" on everything to pitch for a sale nowadays.... bad example: those *gaming* chairs are uncomfortable, no ergonomics and bad both for gaming and work, yet they sell like hot cake with huge markups......

Wow.. I didn't even realize Aopen was still a player in the computer peripheral market. I remember them in the early part of the century when they used to make just about everything.

Thanks OP. I ordered one. Staples clearance monitors are a great deal in recent years. I'm using 2 AOC I got from Staples Dec 2019.
AOPEN is a subsidiary of Acer for those unfamiliar with the brand, and is from Taiwan *

$109.97 at my location. Says 1 in stock. FHD though so I'll pass... don't need a "spare" monitor at this point (famous last words)

Not anymore. This was true when they first started. They were the OEM brand of acer which used to market many PC peripherals. Many things have changed in the last 20 years :)
It was spun off a while back and now part of the Wistron Group, which used to be the manufacturing branch for ACER. Acer and the Wistron are no longer affiliated. The Wistron Group is it's own independent company with no links to ACER.

True - that's correct. The only thing I'm wondering is how many shares of AOPEN does Acer own? It's because the wiki page of AOPEN shows Acer as "parent" - either that's historical and no longer correct, or Acer owns 20%+ of AOPEN and considered as the parent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AOpen

Wiki is community run, and not up to date. Don't take Wiki page for an up to date info always.

Take a look at the Wistron Wiki page, and you will see it lists Aopen as a subsiduary. Which is more accurate.

They were great value in their days, but not sure they do consumer PC stuff any more. Acer releases their own monitors nowadays, so doubt they are linked with Aopen. And wondering if Aopen has any thing to do with these monitors, other than licensing the name (like RCA and Westinghouse do nowadays).
