Hi just curious how this router would improve gaming?

From my understanding isnt online gaming determined by Ping to servers? So if you’re directly connected (like I currently am with my third party existing router) would this router improve my life at all?

My 5gz disconnects randomly throughout the day in this router, only lasts a few seconds but annoying. Any simple fixes?

I'm on AsusWRT-Merlin with this router, no issues. Been using it for about a year by now.

It uses WTFast to route your game traffic through more optimized paths, potentially resulting in less hops and a less congested route.

Upgraded to the Asus RT-AX86U as my AC86U went flaky 4 days ago. I should be able to get the price difference $50 + HST during the Best Buy boxing week sale. Why bother going with the AC86u as it's going to be obsolete and cannot handle gigabyte speeds well.

For most people, what's the need for gigabit anyway.

Folks, this is still a decent deal for this router. Though I think $149 is more appropriate.

FYI, the old frequency issues are long since phased out after the 2018 builds. The 2019/2020 manufacture date units should be solid, on modern firmware.

This is a stable, mature, robust, reliable router.

I have (4x) of these routers (AIMesh'd) running my office right now, one more than I need until an offsite location calls for one.

They're brilliant.

Look 1-2 years from now and gigabyte will possibly be the standard. Technology changes every few years. But given how Robbers and Bell rip Canadians off, they will continue to sell 75mbps down for $100 a month.

Gigabit is not Gigabyte.

Gigabit should do theoretical max 125mb/s.

You need 10 gigabit for 1.25gb/s.

Think boxing week would be cheaper?

I waited for BF/CM, but it went back to $249.

Oh interesting, I didn’t know that.

Thank you so much!
