I think its a pretty good deal. Its my first projector purchase and hope to setup cheap 3d movies for kids this summer :)

good for board room or similar. For 16:9 DVD or HD viewing you would be down to 1024x576 which you will notice is a little soft on the bigger image. But for $269 ....

for an extra $100 you can get this with slightly better resolution (1280x800) giving you 720p for 16:9

I searched redflagdeals for recommended cheap 3d glasses, and found reference to "GMYLE 144 Hz 3D Active Shutter Glasses for DLP-Link Projector" which can be purchased at amazon.ca here: http://www.amazon.ca/Glasses-Shutter-DL ... 00ED9NTW0/

These have sold for $19.99 in the past. Current price is $23.98 for 1 pair. I got the 4-pack for $68.98 ($17.24 each). BONUS: Amazon does not charge any tax from this buyer either.

I am not sure if these are the best deal on glasses or not. Perhaps someone else can post other 3d glasses deals. I believe any 144 hz DLP-Link Active Shutter glasses will work with this projector.

Also if anyone knows deals on kid sized 3d glasses, please post! I am thinking these might be too big for my 5 year old.

EDIT #1: Again, do not forget to stack with Ebates (or other cash back site) + cash back credit card
EDIT #2: Here is RFD link for previous deal discussion on these glasses: amazon-ca-gmyle-dlp-link-3d-glasses-rec ... a-1472263/

Is it holding up all right over the years? The earlier Benq that I had, developed a DLP chip failure after a few years (but I had really used it well and was happy overall with that purchase). Also- how dark is your projection room? Is the picture ok in living room during daytime?
Thanks in advance!

When I try this, the pop-up at ***** tells me, "No Coupon Required". Then after I click on the "Goto Staples.ca >>" link in that window, it takes me to the 'Welcome to Staples' page, but I don't see any code.

Has anyone had this happen? What am I doing wrong?

Honestly I don't see any point buying a projector for viewing video that has a native resolution any less than 720p (should be the absolute minimum!). It will be very apparent in the picture quality.

I have something similar that I got from Staples a couple of years for around $349. Enjoyed many movies/sports over the last couple of years in the basement with the 120 screen. For $299 it's a no brainer if you are getting into this for the first time. If you are a videophile maybe not.

Edit: It seems there are better options available for $100 more. That wasn't the case 2 years ago.

Once you are at the "welcome to staples"- you should be seeing a coupon box which says "$30 off" and a "redeem now" link inside it. You need to click on that.
If you are not getting the "$30 off" box, perhaps try with a different browser.

+1

You are already paying $300 when 720p native linked above is $400 even 1080p ones were as low as $550 (Futureshop few months back).

The loss in details at such footprint (say 100" projected image) is very pronounced, these entry levels XGA projectors are never meant for HD video playback (used one for few years and was fine for DVDs but can never go back for HD video).

I got it. Yes, it worked when I switched browsers. Now I can go through eBates and use this coupon. Thanks! :)

Hmmm, so do you guys recommend this one that was posted up-thread earlier by SPOTTS01?

Any purchase I make, it will be my first projector. Thanks.

Yup I would recommend picking up TW523P at $370 ($399 - $30 coupon), not sure why its not listed on Staples product specs but its BR Full-HD 3D capable http://www.benq.ca/product/projector/tw523p/

Yeah, this looks good. I don't mind spending the extra now, to avoid having to upgrade to something later. The coupon and eBates cashback options help ease that blow, so I'll take advantage of it.
I just looked up the specs at that BenQ link. Sometimes I find some retail stores don't put certain critical specs in their product listing.
Thanks very much for your input, guys. :)

Now I gotta find a decent 'shelf' to mount it. :)

Go with the amazon one linked earlier, it can't get cheaper for a local option that you can return if found problematic (as low as $17.5 for a pack of 4).
