[Staples] [HOT] Samsung 15W wireless charger stand

Was looking for the 6TB Seagate Hub and found this Samsung 15W wireless charger for $29.99 (original price $USD80).

Seems to be a pretty good spec charger (15W - Samsung branded) and it includes a travel charger + USB-C to C cable as well!!

I've owned this one. Wasn't personally a fan, slow charging and heated up quite fast.

So I guess the thread title is still accurate? I'll see myself out.

Were you charging a Samsung phone or an iPhone with it?

Used it to charge an S20, not saying it's an awful charger. Just wasn't particularly impressed with it.

lol Face With Tears Of Joy I see what you did there.

This sounds like a hot deal and a hot mess. Neutral Face

Thank goodness wireless chargers are now becoming common and dropping in price and going up in power delivery. You need something like the OnePlus Warp Charge, 50W Wireless Charger to charge fast, but you'll also need a supported phone and the wireless charger to have a built-in fan to keep it from melting itself down from the heat generated. The current laws of physics will always make wireless charging much less efficient than wired charging, but more convenient since you don't have to bother with a compatible charging cable.
Why settle for full retail price when you can wait and get it at a lower price for better value (even better if there's a bundled freebies deal)? 😉

Yes, heat kills batteries

60 watts? 120 watts? 240 watts? Here's what REALLY ruins batteries, explained.

Hmmm, I like this charger precisely because it doesn't heat up much compared to other chargers. The charger stays pretty cool compared to my Anker, Mophie, Belkin wireless chargers. If you feel the surface of the charger itself, it's barely warm. The back of the phone is always warm because wireless charging is inherently inefficient.

In general I think you should avoid wireless chargers if you can avoid them.

Yeah I bought one of these a couple years ago when Best Buy cleared them out, I've had zero issues with it.

Got it yesterday to charge my S21. Works as described but 2 warnings. I need to remove the case for it to charge and the cable is short for something that is intended to be on a desk. Probably 3 feet.

I have the s21 ultra and i never need to remove the case for it to work. When wireless charging doesn't work with a case, it's too thick, it will do the same with most chargers. the cable length is the standard length, fine for me.

Not sure which case you have, or if you have a metal plate to stick it to a magnet phone holder.... But my S21+ with the Otterbox Defender case (which is a pretty big case) is able to charge no problem. Your case is probably just not wireless charging friendly.

Will only charge up to 5W peak rate since this wireless charger stand does not support the Extended Power Profile (EPP) standard needed for 11W peak rate wireless charging

Yeah the original MSRP on this was something nuts like $120. I remember when I bought it from Best Buy for $39.99 the discount listed was insane.
