[Staples] HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer is only $39.99, if you trade-in an old printer

HP Officejet Pro 8710 & 8720 all-in-one printers are currently on sale for $99.99(ended on 5/2) & $129.99(ended on 5/2). If you turn in a printer, you will get $60off, which make the prices drop to $39.99 & $69.99.

**staples increased the price of 8710 from $69 to $99 on 4/11.**

You can trade in any printer, even a broken one.

They both qualify for HP instant ink program, even the first 15pages/month for free program.
Need to call instant ink program at 855-785-2777 to sign up for the 15pages/month program.

The 8720 has bigger screen, faster speed and legal size scan glass.

This trade-in program will ended on April 30th or supply lasts.
Thanks Brigand and Peacenutman for the updated information

An inkjet. People still buy these over laser?

If the printer qualifies for instant ink,and If you're a low print user that requires duplex scanning I think it's a good deal

I got the 8720 for 130 last christmas so 70 is a no brainer. But I do have a Black and white laser jet-so I see your point.

People still don't research about the ink technology before passing judgment?

The inks used in this machine provide similar or better yields than comparable lasers for half the price.
Can print on more types of media.
Do NOT possess any of the big downsides of inks from the previous decade : no smudging, no clogging

Laser basically just gives you a glossy finish

This is a very hot deal IMO, I traded in an old printer that I bought for $40 last year and I got $60 credit, end up costing me under $50 for a brand new printer, scanner, and fax machine

Not many units sell legal size flat glass and has fax capability.

Got screwed with the HP OfficeJet Pro i bought years ago. 940 cartridges were only made for 2 models. Not many generic brands to choose from.

Btw, does anyone if starter cartridges full volume?

This works even in old ancient printers? I have one sitting around getting unused that I'd be happy to swap. It does work but it's just very old.

Edit: can't make out the dates...valid until when? All locations?

April 4, 2019 for the pro 8710 and May 2, 2019 for the 8720. I suggest that you do the trade asap in case they change the deal for trading older/cheaper printers

Clueless comment.

Inkjet is very flexible and can print on many types of papers.
The photo quality is also much better than laser.

Instant ink is a great program IMO.

Can you use generic ink cartridges with these? The Staples link for the pro one seems to imply there is some sort of special ink security in the machine (not sure if this is easily bypassed or not).

Yes, I just traded in a broken printer. They are going to bring it to recycle anyway. I think the trade in program ended on April 2, and the sales for these two printer are ended on a later day.

I think so, 123ink is selling the generic one, but not much cheaper. I may just wait for the sale at Costco or join the instant ink program.
Staples has a special ink program for the 8720, didn’t get much details about it since I got the 8710.
