Lol....
It should be obvious why. For the same $1000 as this matebook, you're getting an old 5th gen processor and a worse 1440 x 900 screen...

of course their screen isnt the best out there, but their pricing is usually competitive for the spec you get.
I liked ASUS machines, too, until recently. Bought a UX333 and found out there was severe backlight bleeding. Contacted ASUS and they said it was a manufacturer defect, and told me to return it to the retailer. I did this 2 more times because all 3 laptops had bad backlight bleeding. A little is normal, but this was too much.

Ended up going for the XPS 13 (i5/8gb/256gb).

For school/ work machines, consider business class like Dell xps, latitude or IBM Thinkpad or HP pro book.

Any laptop application where there is high cycles for the lid open/ close like school/work (3-4/ hour) needs metal chassis and heavy duty hinges. Consumer grade laptops are only designed a very few times per day or even week.

Also, rigid/ robust screen is important. Nothing worse than cracking a laptop screen cause you stuffed an extra book into your backpack

Also consider the option for next business day onsite repair. Nothing worse having laptop downtime the week before an important assignment is due or during exams week

Oh I thought the 10% off was a personal code that I got from Staples but it looks like its the same for everyone. Valid until August 31. Code = 63471

I'll add it to the original post too.

I own the MacBook Pro 15 inch 2019 model (i7, 16GB 256GB, 555X), and I also own the i7 8GB 500GB, MX150 Huawei Matebook X Pro 2019.

I must say, both laptops are top notch. I couldn't find any other competitors go this far. The Macbook is $3k+ after tax (after student discount), and the Matebook is only $2k after tax. For $1k more, you get the Mac OS, 15 inch, oh and those 4 x Thunderbolt ports (you get only one TB3 with Matebook).

People say that MacBooks are over priced. I would say that Surface Pro Laptops are overpriced. They don't even have Thunderbolt 3 ports.

I am keeping both.

How do you find the trackpad on the Matebook? From some youtube reviews, it seem a bit wobbly compared to the ones on Macbook.

Just talking about your Mac &Mate, don’t talk about surface pro, I love my SP6, I used my SP3 4 years after I change it to SP3. Surface pro = Mac+iPad. Period.

Thank you for posting the 10% off code. -- I used it to purchase a new graphics card.
Cheers,
