[Staples] Intel 520 SSD 180GB - $119.97 [YMMV $89.97 with coupon expiring June 16]

The good old Intel 520 SSD 180GB for $119.97.

Staples also has an even older Intel 320 160GB SSD for $89.97 but that has SATA 2 interface.

YMMV: you PROBABLY can bring down the price by $30 to $89.97 if follow instructions in staples-xbox-1-wireless-controller-all- ... d-1997539/
Do not bother with ordering gift cards with that copy & print coupon. I had three gift card orders cancelled (one PSN electronic order, one PSN physical + Petro Canada order, one PSN physical). Only the Intel 520 SSD order was shipped with this coupon. The coupon will expire tomorrow (June 16).
You can even find $10.03 more stuff to bring the order total to $140 then stack this coupon with $10 off $100 coupon in Staples coupon megathread.

I know that this SSD is old but it uses the good old IMFT 25nm MLC nand which has 5000 P/E cycles and it is reliable. 180GB is large enough for boot drive. Current new MLC nand usually just has 3000 or lower P/E cycles (even Intel 530/535) while TLC nand has 1000-2000 P/E cycles. I have one Intel 535 SSD but it has very large write amplification (google Intel 530 SSD NAND write problem; 530 and 535 have this issue). Also more and more new SSDs are coming out with TLC nand; I don't think that new 3D TLC nand could compare with the good old IMFT 25nm MLC nand in Intel 520. Look at anandtech review for the new "flagship" Crucial MX300 SSD which uses 3D TLC nand http://www.anandtech.com/show/10274/the ... nd-arrives (I'm wondering how bad BX300 will be considering the BX100->BX200 transition)... Even Intel uses TLC nand for new 540s SSD...

Thanks for the coupon trick. I used this to buy a few things with "pick up in store today" to avoid being stuck with unshipped stuff and backcharges like mentionned in the thread you linked.

30$ off 60$... jeezus haha! Too bad most of the time we need to price match stuff at Staples to make the coupons be worth it and this is a "tricky" coupon.

I agree. The pre-tax cost of 850 Pro can be (129.99 * 1.13 - 129.99 *10%)/1.13 = $118.49 which is pretty good.

The key of this Intel 520 is to use $30 coupon to bring the price down to $89.97; roughly $28.52 difference before tax and $32.22 after tax. Actually this coupon stacks with $10 off $100 coupon floating in the Staples coupon megathread (will need $140 or above stuff to use both coupons). I added $11 office stuff to my order and stacked $30 + $10 coupon, so basically $90 for an Intel 520 SSD 180G and $1 for $11 office stuff for me; that makes price difference between 850 Pro to around $40; not bad to me.
