[Staples] iPad 8th Gen 32GB - Approx. $373 after CB & PM

32GB is good enough as a consumption device and this may be more effort than some are willing to go through, but here goes.

- Use Rakuten for 1% cash back
- purchase using coupon code 94008 for 10% off of purchase
- PM with online chat for TheSource which has this tablet on sale for $419.99, https://www.thesource.ca/en-ca/computer ... /108090828

I'm not sure how long that coupon code is valid for but is valid as of this time of this post. Credit to @jdesar for the code in the Staples Megathread....

Should net out that the tablet cost ~$373 plus taxes. Pretty decent for the current gen entry level iPad.

Thanks, OP. 10% can also be applied to iPad Air.

Good point, I think the code will work for many electronics and Apple products. Not sure of the limitations or expiration date but worth a try on checkout for sure.

Thanks OP. I had just bought the same iPad from Costco but back it goes. I didn't bother with the PM but it's a $43 savings without.

3% on Topcashback.
Also, keep in mind regular Apple Education Store price is $399

Skip the 32GB, system used 12Gb(going by memory here) and apps aren't as light as it used to. You will fill up 32Gb in no time.

Those 10% codes come up semi regularly. Plus, you can use it on other iPad models.

Still good to spread awareness, but it seems this "deal" is just the $10 saved from price match?

Compared to the Apple education $399 pricing which is available all the time, the total savings only is $26, or 7%

The only thing that would possibly be announced in April is a new set of iPad Pros and a 6th-gen iPad Mini. The Air and this line were literally just refreshed in September/October.

While that usually true, it wouldn’t be unforeseen for them to release some small tweak to the base iPad models (.ie increase the base capacity to 64 gb).

Apple Pencil’s on refurb section of Apple.ca again today. Remember this version only supports first gen. I load it every morning in anticipation of snagging some kind of refurb deal. So far, the last time they had anything listed, it was current gen iPad Mini 5 64 gb Wi-Fi for $449. That was March 20th.

How much better are iPads now since iPad Air 2 (first gen or whatever you call it)?

The current iPad base model’s specs almost seem to be aligned with the iPad Air 2 minus the fact the processor is a few generations newer. The glass screen seems to be a “downgrade” from basically all the Air lineup models.

In short, if you’re replacing an iPad Air 2 with this, it’s probably about equal IMO. My Air 2 is still kicking it pretty well minus screen damage my toddler did to it this winter.

Which they'd do during the refresh in the fall, if at all (because that's supposed to be the "base" iPad where they keep the cost as low as possible).

I've seen the rumours and they also include "They're increasing the screen size to 10.5 inches" which doesn't even make any sense.

The cpu is about 2-3 times as fast in benchmarks, screen size half an inch larger but a lower end screen.
