Honest question: how did you figure out the 220 nits? It’s not listed on the staples description. Did you get this information somewhere else? If yes, where? Thanks!

No USB-c so no dual monitor output potential?

What matters the most is build quality, ability to upgrade, and keyboard/monitor/trackpad quality.

If you buy a ideapad, you might as well just go and buy a acer. Do not let the lenovo name fool you, ideapads are poor quality price point machines with horrid keyboards.

To get decent quality and a usable mouse with real buttons, get a thinkpad. Most of the E series machines still have upgradeable ram - others have gone soldered.

Minimum cost for a quality laptop these days is around $1000. Can't afford that?
Better off buying used than a cheapo consumer grade that could break after 3 to 5 years. Decent one can last 10 years, only gamers, video editors, engineers doing 3d cad work need newer equipment.
Hvac advice warning - inaccurate information on forum, vested interests in selling builder's equipment. Selling dealer-only brands without being authorized is a red flag. Report to CRA if offered no tax cash-deal. If it's 2 good to b tru, it is.

It seems that there's a recent generic discount code that might (YMMV) apply:

81422 : 25$ off $300

Code taken from the Staples Coupon Codes Megathread in Ongoing Hot Deals.

This is a good price for someone that wants decent specs.

But, if you're someone that prefers quality, but also appreciates value, don't get an ideapad.

I am always very value orientated, even though I make a decent income. I can't give up a deal. What I found with laptops is, you get what you pay for. It's difficult to get a premium feeling laptop for under $1000.

If you don't really care for the fit, finish, and feel of a computer and you just need something cheaper that has good specs, this is a decent deal.

Just know yourself and your habits and this deal will either appeal to you, or it shouldn't.

I will jump in here. Ok.....my laptop just died......so I jumped on this. Had it for a few days now......and all is good except for the screen is fairly dim. If you can live with that...(like I think I can) then go for it. It is a speedy machine (coming from an i5 5th gen).

The keyboard is English/French. I hate the left shift key. The bottom firing speakers are actually decent enough and quite loud.

Good specs but the 220 nits screen sticks out like a very sore thumb...kills the deal unless you plan to have this hooked to an external display for the most part
