[Staples] - Lenovo IdeaPad 3 81W40015CF 15.6-inch Notebook, 2.6 GHz AMD Ryzen 5 4500U, 256 GB SSD, 8 GB-$593.24 Tax in

I was looking for a decent budget school notebook or laptop for my daughter. I found 81W40015CF on staples on sale for 549.99 and there is a coupon 81422 : 25$ off that can be used to bring it down to 524.99 + taxes (Total 593.24). You can upgrade the RAM (4GB Soldered DDR4-2666 + 4GB SO-DIMM DDR4-2666) and wifi card if you want. There is no backlit keyboard but for the price and the processor, it is a decent budget laptop. I ordered it online and already got a call for pickup. Plenty of stock available in your local stores.

Happy Hunting.

Great laptop. The 512gb version was 525$ + tax last weekend at pharmaprix (Quebec shoppers) and there was 200k for 300$ off. Paid 305$ out of pocket and got back 26k points.

Thanks for sharing OP.
Picked one up at SDM during last weekend's event.
Can confirm that you can add an SSD (good choices: FireCuda, Sabrent Rocket), you can modify the existing HDD (quite slow compared to what's available), and you can add a single rack of 32GB (Crucial) for a total of 36GB RAM.
This can be an awesome option for someone who does I.T. work, gaming (Diablo 2 Resurrected Soon!), or other multi-tasking work at once.

Which ram would you recommend? A link or product number would be appreciated.

Great laptop for the price.
One caveat, expected since the price is so low though, is that the screen is pretty weak. Only 220 nits and the contrast is pretty bad.
But it's definitely tolerable and still a great buy.

Honest question: why would I get this Lenovo over the Vivobook at Amazon when it’s on sale for $500 ?

Why does this AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor have 4M cache and 2.6 GHz? Should the spec be 2.3 GHz and 8M cache?

Pretty sure this is it:

Anyone want to comment on how far this can go with gaming?
