Did they improve this mouse? I remember the older models I got were pure crap. People were always complaining about them.

For $30 maybe be worth but not $70 that M$ wants for them

The snap on/off and thinness of these are pretty great. But they’re not the most comfortable to use. Perfect for quick burst sessions/travel, but not as a main.

I've used both this older model and the Surface Touch verison. Older model has a bit more distinct scroll wheel, which I actually preferred to the newer model. Newer model has one large clickable button that wraps around the edge and top with the hidden scrollwheel embedded in the middle, while the older model had physical edges. Also, the newer models (at least the one I have) is bluetooth, while the older model uses a usb dongle. I'd pay a bit more for bluetooth, but for $30 this is a great deal.

Also, I use it as a travel and meeting mouse, because of its portability. I wouldn't use it as a regular desktop mouse. It does a good job of being portable while close to full sized when open, but definitely isn't as comfortable to use as a full sized desktop mouse.

I used the older bluetooth version of this mouse years ago (still have it). Thought it was great. Used it every day for a couple years at work.

I also bought this wireless version (with adapter), but never got around to using it.

I've been meaning to get the Surface version, but never found a good deal.

This requires a USB dongle or works with Bluetooth too?
