[Staples] Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus_ $39.99

it's back to $39.99 at Staples with free shipping, who missed the deal two weeks ago at BestBuy.

Easily transfer videos from VHS or analog camcorders to DVD so you can enjoy your glory days and/or childhood without the need of a VCR
Capture video from most analog camcorders, VCRs, or even DVD players to make sure your memories don't fade with older technology
Capture video at full DVD-quality resolution so images come through clear on newer technology TVs
Add transitions between videos and trim unwanted content to make better quality videos

Anyone have any experience with software like this. My parents passed away recently and my brother and I have always wanted to convert our old VHS camcorder movies to DVD

It seems to require the VHS player, so I suppose it's nice but an incomplete kit.

Reviews are weak as well.

Does it save to mkv or avi then convert to DVD or does it just do DVD format.
I would want to save to PC and don't need DVD at all.

I was tempted with this but after seeing the reviews, i decided to open up my VHS to DVD recorder and managed to fix it up (the toshiba dvr7 that's notoriously difficult to take apart). It had a dirty mode switch that was causing it to eat the tape

It works perfectly now and the quality on these units is actually pretty good (just gotta record to DVD in SP mode to keep the quality drop to a minimum)

Unfortunately at this point you will need a high grade VHS player because your tapes will be in bad shape. If you really still have some tapes you want digitized send it to a reputable company.

30 years of degradation will do that. You may have a point.

I was really hoping this was good product but some of the reviews are poor.

On youtube some one posted a video how to do it

I used free OBS Studio software for video looks pretty decent.

Two item you need are
1) RCA to HDMI Converter
mini
av2 hdmi

https://www.amazon.ca/Converter-Amtake- ... NrPXRydWU=

2)Video Capture Card

if you get two of these high quality product it might work. I can't recommend which one is great, never tried it.
Someone will post best cheap alternative.

I have this, got it when it was on sale last time. It's worked very well, not sure why reviews are so all over the place. I converted around 7/8 tapes.

One tape doesn't seem to be working, the tracking doesn't seem to be capturing so it says no signal but everything else worked.

It says VHS To DVD but you can do VHS to digital direct.

I believe the review is saying video quality is alright but it suffers from poor audio quality.

I recently acquired a $59.99 Corel Pinnacle Dazzle Link, and used it on 30 year old DV8 and 40 year old VHS. It is an RCA video and audio input to USB convertor. It worked very well - but you have to remember that source and player quality can be a problem. It faithfully captured what I was monitoring on a television. When I first installed the capture software, there were problems. One call to customer support and I downloaded a patched image and we were in business. The software package (Pinnacle Studio) is really powerful, and does have a learning curve. The output can be DVD or H.264 AVC (MP4), and others. Note this is shipped from Ireland. Also note that 2 months after receipt, FedEx charged me $50 to clear customs which surprised Corel, and they refunded my purchase price to compensate.
