2 cents: Would never buy a 16gb anything...phone or tablet.

I have this tablet, its not exactly a powerhouse but its fine for basic tasks and ideal for watching videos on the go with its 1920 x 1200 widescreen and MicroSD slot. It would be comparable to the Fire HD 10, but that's not available in Canada. $249 is probably more inline of what its regular price should be now, if it were around $199 that would be a reasonable deal.

Comes with Android 6.0 which I think will not be supported soon. Did you get a more recent version in an update?

I am thinking about getting this for my kids so I was doing some research. An update to 8.1 came out just a few days ago. I wouldn't expect any more major updates.

I had the same thought. Though i find tablets are about price vs age vs features. If you want the newest most advanced it costs the most money. If you can live with old and crummy specs you can buy quite cheap. Really the only thing to do is to wait for a sale and hope for a rare lucky diamond on sale.
I would not call this it unfortunately but if it will upgrade to Pie then its not all bad but from Marshmallow thats unlikely. And its hard to find out without buying it.

The alternate is on ebay I got one back in July costs about 290 cad shipped it is exactly the same except called a a6 model it has 32gb space instead of 16gb. I got one from this dw or dwi international it is not a fake but a tablet not made for this market it has been great. The tech is a little old but everything is fine great battery good screen, still have not found anything better yet for the price

Maybe better off on getting the 2018 version that has android 8. On sale for $336 on Amazon. You can price match at Best Buy or Memory Express and get it for close to $325 which is $100 less than what retailers are asking right now.

I know some don't like the Apple ecosystem but you can get the 2018 iPad 9.7" on sale at $380. That's the one I have and is far superior in performance, build, pen capability, touch security (read the Tab A 2018 version sucks at facial recognition) and OS updates than anything in its class and price IMHO.

While I have given up on the Apple computer and phones over the years, just can't move away from their tablet just yet.
