[Staples] Thrustmaster HOTAS Controllers for Flight and Space Sims - $69.99, $179.95, $579.99

Staples and Amazon currently have very good sales on three different Thrustmaster HOTAS setups for flight and space sim enthusiasts. These Hands On Throttle And Stick peripherals make flying in great space games such as Star Wars Squadrons, No Mans Sky, Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous (and many more) or more serious flight sims such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, DCS World, IL-2 Sturmovik (and many more) much more enjoyable.

The first at the entry level is the Thrustmaster T-Flight Stick Hotas 4 v3 for both PC/Playstation. This is a pretty good starter HOTAS that makes game flying in space and on earth far more realistic and fun than a controller or, gasp, keyboard and mouse. Staples currently has this on a great 50% off sale at $69.99 (regularly $136.99) after you use the coupon code 93438 during checkout.

The second is a step up from the T-Flight to the Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS. This unit ups the quality and number of controls, with the stick having 4 axis, 16 buttons, an 8 way POV and a trigger. This unit uses Hall effect sensors instead of pots so should last quite a bit longer and should remain more accurate over time. The throttle is also better designed with an additional 14 buttons, another 8 way POV hat switch with up to 5 more axis (9 in total). Amazon has this unit on sale for $179.99, a $60.04 savings or 25% off.

Finally there is the king of the crop, the venerable Thrustmaster PC HOTAS Warthog Flight & Stick Throttle. This A-10C replica HOTAS sets the standard in the flight and space sim realm as it is extremely well built with its 5 coil spring system, 16-bit Hall effect sensors and weighted 14 lbs base. This replica A-10C is one of the most versatile HOTAS systems on the market with 55 buttons, dual hat switches, etc. The throttle quadrant includes high quality dual 14-bit throttles with 17 of its own buttons, a hat switch and mouse / slew controls. Staples has this on sale for yet another very good price of $579.99 when you checkout with the $20 off coupon code 93440. That's 24% or $186.50 off it's standard price of $766.49.

I've had the warthog hotas since 2012 now, paid about $500 back then

Solid stick, lot of enthusiasts will shit on it for Vipril stuff but if you're playing DCS a-10 ... this is the only stick to get

I use it for elite dangerous and all other flight sims and it's very very solidly built

Have an older version of the t flight hotas. The control uses some very low quality pots and lead to dead zones. Would not recommend.

Ha, yeah sometimes. I've been running flight sim since v1. I can remember using some kind of hacked Sega Master System or NES controller with a PS2 pinout (or was it serial? can't remember) that emulated keyboard inputs to fly MSFS on my 286 back in '85 or '86 time frame. Blew my noggin' having a D pad to control my (stick figure) plane while I was landing in (stick figure) Chicago.

How far we've come.

Yeah, I've been lucky with my original T-Flight as its pots survived, even til today when I fire it up sometimes for my girls. For someone on a real budget I'd still recommend it, as long as one isn't expecting to get 10 years out of it. 2-3 would be more realistic. The 16000M would be a better bet if someone can afford the extra $110, however, due to it's Hall effect sensors.

I have the second one (Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS), have been using it for flight simming with MSFS 2020 and can vouch for its quality. Actually there is a variant of that that comes with the rudder pedals (same stick and throttle) called the "T.16000M FCS Flight Pack" and that's what I got. It's actually on sale at Walmart (as well as Amazon - reg. $349.99), and with Walmart, for the few hours left today, you can get an extra $10 off in the form of a voucher when you spend $75+.

It does certainly cost more to buy the components separately (i.e. the Thrustmaster pedals can be $180+ on their own), so it's definitely worth considering what components you might use and then get the package that makes sense for your situation.

Yup, definitely remember that.. in fact my dad owned a computer shop in the 90s and I distinctly remember a joystick that came bundled with wolfenstein 3d.

This guide is probably worth reading before spending any money in the space.
Interesting, thanks. Not a good time to buy hotas. According to him, the Thrustmaster has been removed from his list because of increasing reports of failure (and price) and the VKB Gladiator EVO is above 200 $can, + 60 $us for shipping and it's an importation from china which mean importation fees will most probably be applied. That thing will cost 300 $can.
Funny part is, I agree about his comments about CHproducts, all of his comments...
Pourquoi pas?
