[Staples] Union & Scale FlexFit Dexley Mesh Task Chair - $199.99

The Dexley is on sale for $199.99 again (there was an expired deal from earlier in July).

Black: https://www.staples.ca/products/2949742 ... hair-black

Blue: https://www.staples.ca/products/2444248 ... chair-blue

(Note Blue has 4 in stock at time of posting)

I tried this in store in late 2020 and liked this better than the Hyken as the Dexley has a larger seat base.

What's the all time low price on this and what are the common complaints people have with this chair? For Reference I'm 5'9 150 pounds and have lower back pain, thanks.

Based on some reddit research, this might match the cheapest price.

Based on reddit research + trying out their Hyken at the store, I want to wait for the Hyken to go on sale.

I think if you are 5'9" and 150 pounds, Dexley might work for you; Hyken's headrest really digs into your shoulders (read: becomes unusable) if you are 5'9 or above.

Thanks to lykzomg for your thoughts above. I would add it seems like some people have issues with the durability of the mesh on the seat, but I suppose that depends on your weight. At 150 pounds you should have no issues.

Otherwise, from videos I've seen, the whole chair is mostly plastic, so long-term durability may be an issue? But at this price point, don't expect premium materials. One positive is the 7-year warranty vs. the 1-year warranty you see for the Moustache/123ink chairs around this price.

Sitting on this chair now. It's... okay

Sort of wish I had tried the Markus as well to properly compare before pulling the trigger

I tried Hyken in store and found that front edge of the padding was digging into my legs.
If you wear shorts or thin material pants, it should be annoying sitting for a long time.
I am 5'9.

Markus doesn't look as comfortable (given non mesh seat), but I will be sure to try it next time when I go to IKEA!

None that I'm aware of, aside from the $10 off from newsletter sign up.

Exactly! That's the reason I didn't like the Hyken - the plastic lip piece was cutting into my legs. The Dexley didn't have that issue.

From a short sit on the Dexley, it felt comfortable enough (this is coming from someone who sat on years on an Aeron in the office).

That's actually my main issue. Mesh seats are not as comfortable as cushion (at least for me). I thought the reverse would be true

Weirdly enough, this chair now shows on their website as being the full price again, although the website did say the sale ended August 3rd. However, I went to a store Friday evening, and while the website showed it as $279 their computer system showed it as $199. I bought it in store for $199 (although wasn't able to receive it that day as their lift to get it from the upper storage had broken).

Bought this 2 weeks ago when it was on sale at $159.99 very similar to Dexley but with locking positions for reclining which most people were disappointed in with the Dexley chair. Has adjustable lumbar support as well as more comfortable arm rests.

Honestly if I didn't know better I would have thought the 123ink Chair is the Dexley as it feels just a little bit more premium. Only downside is you get 1 year warranty while Staples slaps you with 7.

Interesting - it seems Staples is yo-yo-ing the price for this chair (now they extended sale to Aug 10th)

How do you like this chair so far? I saw this sale before too, but didn't want the hassle of returning it if I didn't like it (as I wouldn't have tried it before). Looking at the chair dimensions, it seems similar to the Dexley, except for some differences in functionality like the locking recline like you said.
