[Staples] Viewsonic PX747-4K Projector $849.99 (after $50 coupon, FS)

With the coupon, this is not only the lowest price ever for this unit, it's the lowest price ever in Canada for a 4k projector.

Happy buying

Edit: Coupon DLE50001

Is this any good? Compared to Epson 5040 for example.

Not true 4k, but can't really expect it to be at this price level.

This is a good website.

This is a weird comparison by someone who doesn't know a lot about projectors. The units aren't calibrated so the comparison is rather useless. The proof is in how different the 4000 and 5040ub look, and how the Optoma looks so much better on a lot of stuff. Shouldn't be the case.

However I would expect the Viewsonic to be the weakest of the group, only slightly worse than the Optoma. That's on picture quality, on overall resolution the Optoma and Viewsonic beat the Epsons. But it looks way worse in that comparison than it should.

The 5040 is a discontinued projector that cost $3500 new, you can get a refurb for $1500 if they ever come up again. Not the same price class at all. Resolution will be inferior to the Viewsonic, but contrast, colour brightness, flexibility, lens, etc all superior.

Stop spreading misinformation. This is true 4k. It resolves every pixel of the 4k image distinctly and clearly. If you don't understand the technology you shouldn't comment on it.

Had this projector for 3 months and sold it as it wasn't ideal for my home theater. It's not bad by any means and for 799 it's a warm deal. Color brightness is too low for my taste and it makes for a washed out picture despite the fact it's very sharp when it comes ot 4K image.

I'd rather take the 727 model which has lower lumens and white brightness, but better color saturation and overall picture quality. Shame that one is not on sale.

Yeah I've been waiting for a good deal on the 727 as well.

Tempting to try, but what is Staples return policy on projectors? So many messed up Staples stories around, I'm wondering if it would be a hassle to return after trying it.

You're absolutely right, this projector is true 4k in that it resolves every pixel. I admit I misspoke and meant to say that it's an interlaced image using 4x 1080.

In any case, it's not reasonable to expect native 4k at this price level so no foul intended. It's not a bad deal at all.

I bought it and tested it, I am returning it because I can't go back from the contrast levels of my JVC x590r, even for a secondary bedroom projector lol
