It may not be too late to sign up for the Starlink internet service.

I got the "live" email at around 4pm.

If you live rurally THIS is the deal you've been waiting for!!!!

I just paid ~$800CAD for my installation kit.

Good luck 🤞🏻 :)

Per the email:
Starlink is now available in limited supply in your service area.

During beta users can expect to see data speeds vary from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s and latency from 20ms to 40ms in most locations over the next several months as we enhance the Starlink system. There will also be brief periods of no connectivity at all.

As we launch more satellites, install more ground stations and improve our networking software, data speed, latency and uptime will improve dramatically. For latency, we expect to achieve 16ms to 19ms by summer 2021.

Checking the price:
Hardware $649.00
Shipping & Handling $65.00
Tax $85.68
Due Today $799.68

Service $129.00 /mo

What do you mean? I have a friend here in rural New Brunswick who's been on Starlink for at least a month now.

Someone from reddit is saying it's $145 a month, for 200 mbsp. Amazing for rural Canadians.

Oh, sorry for confusion....I'm beyond excited..... and for those thinking about price, it'll be less and faster (much faster) than what you have now.

oh...the kicker? Latency will settle below 20msec!!!

I got accepted in Richmond BC, any idea why I should choose this over Shaw or Telus? Will it be faster or more reliable? Seems a bit expensive

Not open beta yet. Still only select addresses/cells. I'm still waiting for my area of BC to open up, I'm at a serviceable latitude just not my lucky day yet. But lots of people are having success by plonking in their address today and being taken to the order page for equipment. Soon for me I hope, about 100km northwest of Kamloops.

As someone who knew nothing about this, I managed to discern from the handful of replies that it will indeed be faster and more reliable, and that it is definitely worth the increase in price for the performance you'll receive.

A fellow coworker just got it setup. They said that it came out to around $800 in hardware and $129 a month, basically what others already posted.
