From the Steam sales page:
The 2021 and 2022 editions were so successful that we knew we had to do it again. You may be familiar with Quebec’s love of hockey and delectable poutine— but did you know that it’s also one of the top 5 development hubs in the world for video games? That’s right: Quebec is home to over 290 studios across the province.

We are proud to feature over 170 released and upcoming titles from our finest independent and AAA developers. By browsing this sale, you’re not only directly supporting the efforts of our local studios but also the push to build a more diverse industry. Join us as we shine a spotlight on marginalized developers this year and strive to amplify their voices.
FYI, a good sample of locally-made games are listed on Games from Quebec (excludes titles from some studios like EA and Ubisoft).

Notable mentions on sale:

Rated 10/10, Overwhemlingly Positive:
Rated 9/10, Very Positive:
Rated 8/10, Positive:
Rated 7/10, Mostly Positive:
Alas, Mon Bazou, We Happy Few, and most AAA games aren't part of the sale. Still, quite a few gems in the list and this sale supports Canadian devs!

Anything else you recommend?

N++ is a great indie precision (key word is precision) platformer, it's been on sale for lower on places like Fanatical and in bundles FYI https://isthereanydeal.com/?country=CA# ... =nplusplus

Tribes of Midgard is a decent co-op survival/roguelike/rpg game, it was in the last Humble Choice FYI
Edit: best with friends, 4 or more (up to 10 players)

Star Wars Squadrons seems to be abandoned by EA and is a lacking VR experience in some areas judging from reviews

Spiritfarer is a real gem, highly recommended. Great change from the usual dark and dreary stuff you often see these days.

I had Insurgency Sandstorm on my wishlist and have been on the fence, but since it's from Quebec, I'll be buying it. Thanks, OP.

May also pick up Spiritfarer so I can play with the kid.

Wasn’t sure about Spiritfarer (as in, if I’d enjoy the game), but after seeing the hauntingly beautiful reviews on Steam, I had to get it.

Thanks OP, upped

Playing adventure games helped me learn English back in the Space Quest and Zak McKracken era (along with watching much Star Trek and Red Dwarf). Maybe story-focused or single-player slow-paced games with audio and subtitles could help? Anything that gets you involved in the story, much like a good novel would.

Quebec-made video games usually offer 1:1 translations, even for indie titles. Ubisoft being a French company and having their biggest studio here, their products are at least bilingual.

Both Deux Ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided were made by Eidos Montreal (and HR takes place in part in this city), have a rich story and can be played at a slower pace if you take the stealth/no-kill path. The Portal series is available in French too, and so is the locally made Dead Space reboot (haven't tried yet).

I'm leisurely playing through Contrast in French which fits the European vibe to this adorable local game.
