It was free not long ago, if you had Amazon Prime, though not the Deluxe Edition... just saying.

If I had to guess, the licenses are expiring and this game is soon to be delisted, with an announcement for the next Need For Speed coming maybe at The Game Awards later this year.

It means you got it before it's gone which is good. Delisting a game from stores is different than EA shutting down the online service/multiplayer servers, which is not what this is.

Will probably buy it and didn't know the sale was on so thanks OP :) Goes nice with the cheap Need for Speed Payback I Got a little while ago. Easily one of my favorite racing franchises, even if the quality dropped off a bit/microtransactions took over a bit.

Both versions/stores require activation + playing on the Origin client, so it makes no difference whether we buy directly from EA Origin vs Steam, right?

Yes but Steam has achievements + Points Shop + DLC is always easier to keep a track of on Steam so may as well buy it on there. Plus you screw EA out of 30% of the profit because it goes to Steam instead vs. their own launcher ;D

I bought it for $25 a couple years ago on Steam and still haven't played it.

I'm such a stupid idiot.

Yup it does support it

But the big deal here is the steering wheel support, with the following steering wheels now supported in Need for Speed Heat:

Thrustmaster T300RS (PS4, PC)
Thrustmaster TX (Xbox, PC)
Thrustmaster T150 (PS4, PC)
Thrustmaster TMX (Xbox, PC)
Logitech G29 (PS4, PC)
Logitech G920 (Xbox, PC)
Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel (PS4, PC, XB1)
