Steel braided hose replacement

Several searches recommend replacing steel braided hose used for dishwasher and toilet connections every 5 years .

Is this necessary and is 5 years too early?

My toilet uses PEX, my dishwasher has then steel braided hose.

I guess we should be concerned about corrosion in the steel

Make sure to get a braided hose that does not have plastic fittings on the end.

I thought the braid was to prevent blisters on the internal rubber hose from bursting.

I've heard the same thing - you're supposed to replace the hose every N years.

The steel braid is to protect from chaffing and abrasion on the outside of the hose itself. .....
