OP, if you "consolidate", you simplify and reduce. So, Stock consolidation is a share quantity reduction, which has to be matched by a share price increase. Its usually a bad sign.

The end results are the same: the company wastes time and money on the paper work, and accomplishes nothing, except maybe to consolidate to keep the stock price above certain $ required to remain on certain stock exchange.
