Stocks that will 10X in 5-10 years

I was reading the SHOP thread shopify-ipo-1719751/ and what really piqued my interest was a post in January 2016 describing the drop in share price going from $26.5 (Jan 5) to $18.5 (Jan 15), a 30% drop which justified being call a freefall. But as you know, in July 2021 (5 1/2 years later), the stock is trading at over $1,800!

So do you have any stock in your mind could be a 10-bagger in 5-10 years (100-bagger is just way too ambitious and really happens once in a blue moon)!

I am betting on PINS and CRWD.

This is obviously for fun and not financial advice LOL! To keep track I will try to update the thread summary for people's picks. Can't guarantee to do it on a regular basis but will try my best :)

OP as to your question - I have no idea, in fact what has 10x in the past may not make the list in the next 5-10 years..

I can't say with any certainty, but I bet you it will be a company that:

1) Is an internet or software company (capital light; scales well).
2) High ROIC with substantial opportunity to keep reinvesting
3) Network effect built into business model
Buy quality. Keep calm and go long

CRWD is the one in my portfolio that I think is the most likely to become the dominant player in its industry (which will only grow bigger).

If you held AAPL, MSFT, MA, GOOG, NVDA and many others for the last 10 years you have also done very well. More than one way to get there.

yes i am - and correct, it could be a 50x bagger in 5-10 years if all things go well

Not necessarily. Any company in a 'greenfields' area that is in high demand has a possibility of meeting the criteria, especially for relatively early investors.

For example - MRNA. Yes, they have done well in the past year but they are still in a relatively new greenfields area of using mRNA to treat/cure/prevent issues from 15 different vaccines to cancer treatments. With the COVID vaccine, they basically have secured funding to pursue multiple avenues at the same time vs pre-COVID when they were struggling to get funding just for their vaccine candidates. MRNA really only meets point 2.

Another one might be BHVN with just their migraine drug alone as that drug is the first that not only treats migraines rapidly as it happens but is now approved to prevent migraines. Think of the concept of prevention as a subscription model for a drug that has no competition for the 12% of the population who suffer from migraines and many of them would gladly pay up to prevent them from happening in the first place. If BHVN can use their existing platform to create another drug (rather than being a one-hit wonder), they can easily exceed the 10x in 10 years.

LSPD is always being call the next Shopify by Canadian banks (especially CIBC which is super bullish on the name)
