Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair

Does anyone own this high chair? Have any opinions on it? Is it worth the price?

I think the concept seems great, and the workmanship seems good, but I've read that they can tip easily. Also, I wonder, without the cushion accessory, is it comfortable to sit on? Did you purchase the table top accessory? If not, did you find there to be an issue with the baby's food all over the table?

We have two, one for each kid and we all love it! Our toddler is able to climb up by himself and will sit through the whole meal without complaining about getting down. His doesn't have a cushion and he's never had a problem. Our younger one has the cushion and railing since he started using it at 6 months. We don't have the table top accessory. Didn't know it came with one but I think I'd rather have them up to the table. One less thing to wash. Even if they get food all over the table, the table gets wiped after each meal anyways so it's not an issue. The whole chair in general so easy to clean. No nooks and crannies for food to get stuck like traditional high chairs. Oh, and we've never had a problem with it tipping and our toddler climbs all over it. I would highly recommend getting this chair! Totally worth the price too as you can basically keep it forever. Even if you don't, the resale value is pretty high. The different colours are so much fun too :cheesygri

We have one and think it is great. Workmanship is great, it's very stable, looks good, and is functional. Also, it grows with the child (quite adjustable). Our daughter is almost 5 and I see her using it for another couple of years yet.

We have one too. Been using it for 2 months now with the cushion and railing. It's great, quite sturdy and I don't feel that it will tip that easily. It can be brought right up against the table so we didn't felt the need for a table top accessory.

I just went to the Stokke site and saw the table top accessory you're referring to. If you're concerned about mess, we've used the Kiddopotamus Tidy Diner which I would recommend instead: http://www.kiddopotamus.com/p_tiny.php. There's a scoop to catch all the mess and it's portable too so you can take it out restaurants.

guess we have similar old kids as we are going through the same thing.

Wife and I started to look for a high chair, and this Stokke one is on our short list, along with the HiLo chair, and Bloombaby Fresco. We really liked Stokke as it's clean, well made and modern. But in the end, we went for Bloombaby Fresco ( http://www.gingerbreadmonkeys.com/scrip ... roduct=810 ) because it not only has a modern design, but also quite practical and fits quite well with the tone/decor of our kitchen. If you buy this from Canada, it costs a bit more then Stokke, but the difference is not that big in US. So I just bought it and having it free shipping to Buffalo, where my buddy is gonna go and pick it up for me.

I think if you go up to that price range, you probably are looking for something that will fit to your home decor or at least disrupts it the least :) So if Stokke fits, go for it.

Forgot one of the best parts of the Stokke, an older child (i.e. ~2) can climb in and out on there own without worry of it tipping. The out could be bad, but the in is definitely good.

I am also researching for high chair for my 6 month old baby. As I was looking into the Stokke high chair I stumbled upon this video on youtube on how it COULD tip over...I thought I would share this with other parents who are thinking of buying this high chair. Not to discourage you from buying as I am thinking of buying this high chair myself, but just to be aware of what could happen.

I'm just curious, has this ever happen to other parents who have this high chair?

Edit: oops...this is the youtube link...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB7V7HDYAtQ

As an owner that surprises me. My daughter pushes back every day, and she's over 30 pounds. Mind you it is on hardwood. If you look at the video, there are pads on the back of the legs but not on the front, and I am not sure if this causes the legs to stick and pivot. Based on my experience, I think it would only be possible to tip like that on carpet where the legs can stick.

Take a look at getting something like this, my cousin bought these for her triplets, they are 7 months old now and are using them. She saw them on the Jon&Kate show and that's how she decided to get these. she paid Around $50 for each, and got them in a finish that matches her existing kitchen table.

The video looks good, but there is no way these are as good for a child's posture (if that matter's to you) as the Stokke, and they have a limited span of usefulness. As I mention, my daughter is 5 and has at least a couple of more years of use left out of the Stokke.

Hey thanks! I watch that show a lot (I somehow missed this episode) and never thought of researching the high chairs that the couple uses. The chairs look really sturdy. =)

RE: posture
Posture is one of the reasons that I am looking into the Stokke highchair. That is why I'm looking the Svan high chair also. =)

I bought the tiny diner with great hopes that it would be handy in restaurants. My son pulled up on the catch and unsuctioned the whole thing. With my son it would have been better without the catch as it served as leverage for him to pull up on. I ended up returning it.

Wow... Went to test the Stokke chair: ours will slide along the floor instead of tipping back.

are those pads at the bottom felt or rubber? I can't see how it would stick like that if it were felt. We're in a condo with a carpeted dining area, so I'd think the chair would just slide back if the baby pushed on the table. Also, I spoke to someone at Mom's to be about the tipping factor, and he told me that in the 2009 version of the chair, they have extended the length of the base to go back a bit further which should reduce the chances of a tip. He also said the new version included a higher back support, which may help with posture as well. Though I have yet to see any details about these changes online.

Stalker, that high chair you've decided on looks great, but the Stokke definitely meshes with our decor a lot better. Our baby will be arriving soon, but I know we'll need to buy a high chair in a few months, so just shopping ahead.

seems to be made as well. Slight diffs in the harness, but bebe seems to be doing fine in it! :)
This is the first I'm hearing of hipposmile. I did a quick search and found some reviews, which appear to be mostly positive. The price seems to be half of the Stokke for pretty much the same product. The only negative I found (which is a big one for our needs) is that due to the lack of a railing, the Hipposmile is only safe from 18 months. The Tripp Trapp is suitable from 6 months.

yeah we ran into that problem too. We currently have our 10 month old in the hipposmile and she seems secure. The best we can come up for the 18mo+ suggestions for the Hipposmile is that the Stokke harness is better for younger kids. YMMV

Do you think the Baby Set from the Tripp Trapp would fit on the Hippo ?
