Streaming device for Android and Apple

We are a household that uses both Android and Apple tablets and would like a tv streaming device that does both (the tv is not smart). I've read online that Roku will strike a deal with apple to include Airplay...but I am not sure when that day will come. We would like to stream from apps (Netflix, TSN, Youtube etc) and especially websites. Any recommendations?

netflix airplay support is dead. netflix killed it

"We want to make sure our members have a great Netflix experience on any device they use. With AirPlay support rolling out to third-party devices, there isn’t a way for us to distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV vs. what isn’t) or certify these experiences. Therefore, we have decided to discontinue Netflix AirPlay support to ensure our standard of quality for viewing is being met. Members can continue to access Netflix on the built-in app across Apple TV and other devices."

Ditto.

Or just get an Amazon FireStick when on sale as it is way more versatile. No need to actually cast a stream from a phone as NetFlix, YouTube, TSN, and any other android streaming app can just be run off the Firestick itself. It's basically an Android device on a stick that you attach to a HDMI port which you control with a remote. Any apps that are not available from the Amazon AppStore, you can sideload.
